Fergus & Bix West Springs — Restaurant in Calgary

Holy cow. I went to this place blind not having heard anything. It was a Saturday at 3 so it was quiet and when I looked at the menu I thought "this place has no idea what they're doing.." the menu is kinda all over the place and I just assumed it wasn't gonna be good. I was so so wrong and so very happy to admit that I was. I'd give this place 6 stars if I could. Probably one of the best pub burgers I've had in a very long time. I got the Llano Poblano burger and my best friend got the Alberta Beef Dip. Let me say that the Llano is a revelation. The flavours combined to make the burger feel fresh and meaty and thick and just amazing. The Beef dip was really fricken good too. I only had a bite though but I would definitely order it next time. Service was good and prompt. Drinks refilled etc. And she just had a good time talking about the menu with us too. The sides were... Eh. I got the roasted street corn and it wasn't bad or good. I think it would be better a bit more fried. Via either pan or deep. The seasoning on it wasn't consistent but it was tasty. The dirty rice is good but was even better when I cut the corn into it and mixed it. Definitely a solid combo together. My best friend got the spicy broccoli and fries. Spicy broccoli ain't very spicy but was cooked perfectly. And the fries were surprisingly good for being just fries. Good cut and cook on them. Ok so I’d love to give this place a 4 or 5 but I’ve ordered probably at least 20 times for take out as I live close by and have little kids. I get take out each time and every time they seem to make a small mistake that ruins my meal. I have left verbal feedback and even called separately to make sure it didn’t happen again. Today I ordered takeout fish and chips and simply asked for a substitution of the condiments and to get some gravy, not an outstanding request... needless to say they once again failed to deliver and I had no gravy with my fries. I asked the waiter before I left and he assured me they fulfilled my request but it wasn’t until I got home that I once again noticed the error. I guess I should have checked before I left but I assumed swapping ketchup for gravy was not a substantial request. One time I had a large order as I had friends over and I ordered dinner for everyone, I got home and it was a completely different order not even anything I had ordered, I went back and they had to remake my entire order. I tell my wife that I really want Fergus and Bix to succeed and give them my business and money but honestly I don’t know if I will be able to order again. I really hope they make the appropriate changes... help...

I come to this location often, as I both live in the area and enjoy this location. The staff are welcoming and quick, even when the location is busy. The atmosphere is like an upscale sports bar and restaurant. It's not too loud, and its very clean, but you can catch some sports if that's your thing. I usually go for brunch or lunch at this location, and these menus are reasonably priced, you will pay a bit more for the dinner options. They also have a nice selection of cocktails and beers, if alcohol is your thing. The food is always hot and tastes amazing. The cocktails are always nicely mixed, not too much ice, nor are they watered down. The thing that sold me on this location however, was when I took my mom here for mother's day brunch last year and we wanted to try their chicken and waffles. Sometime between ordering our food and them making it, the waffle machine broke, so they came and offered us something else from the menu. No issues, we hadn't been waiting very long and we were enjoying our drinks. However, as we were getting ready to pay, the management comp'd our entire meal, so we only ended up paying for our drinks. It was a nice surprise, as we hadn't felt that we were waiting too long, and we were appreciative of...
