Streats West Springs Kitchen — Restaurant in Calgary

UPDATE 4: I tried their Fish & Chips. They are shockingly good. Apparently, they are fresh made in-house and not frozen. I didn't expect them to be comparable to dedicated Fish & Chips shops in town. Rice Bowl is still my favorite!

UPDATE 3: I tried a Beef Burrito as there is a promo this week. It's excellent, though. I still like the Beef Bowl the best!

We saw a grand opening special of $4 for any tacos and thought better try StrEATS now.

We ordered the Baja Fish Taco, Beef Taco, Gochujang Chicken Taco, Buffalo Chicken Taco, Mango Shrimp Taco, Peri-Peri Chicken Taco, Jerk Chicken Taco, and Cajun Shrimp Taco. Yup, pretty much all but Chicken Taco (only because chicken is in most of them already).

Of the tacos ordered, my favorites were the Peri-Peri Chicken Taco, followed by the Beef Taco. The Peri-Peri Chicken Taco had a nice flavor punch with juices running down your hands. The Beef Taco was made of slow-cooked shredded beef and retained the beefy base.

The Fish Taco was also yummy and different from the rest. I would say start with this if my 2 favorites are not appealing to you.

Team members were friendly and willing to chat. The owner was present and happy. I look forward to more tacos and perhaps trying...

It's a typical unassuming walk-in counter order type restaurant with a few tables and a window bar to sit at, TV in the corner, brightly coloured tables and signage, and wall graffiti. You think Meh ok... until you order that is... then you are met with outstanding service and fantastic tasting food!

I decided to try it because I had heard good things. I also saw a promo online and responded, so I had been receiving electronic coupons. I took my partner with me and decided to try the fish and chips.

Here is what stuck out: The dough to fish ratio was perfect The pieces are a decent size = 2 is a good meal The fries were properly cooked and seasoned I was pleasantly surprised by the quality A variety of condiments were readily available

While it was fast food in that we received it fast, it bore no resemblance to the typical taste of fast food

After this experience, I definitely won't hesitate to order it again, and I look forward to future visits to try out the other menu items.

Side note: whatever West Springs Cashier C's name is, she was helpful, knowledgeable, and made excellent recommendations; definitely a fantastic ambassador for this restaurant.

If you're thinking about trying this restaurant out, I suggest you do as it will be worth the trip. 😉

Went to the West Springs location and ordered the smash burger, Mexican poutine, Gochujang chicken taco, Mango Shrimp taco and the peanut butter ice cream sandwich. Everything was fire! The burger was juicy and delicious just meat and cheese with a special sauce. The Mexican poutine had a great amount of succulent sliced beef with tomatoes, sour cream, green onions, cheese and gravy. The tacos were a great portion and one consisted of mango chunks and coconut shrimp with which was super flavourful and the other one consisted of crispy chicken that was also very flavourful with a mix of cabbage, carrots, lime and hint of spicy BBQ sauce. And last but not least the peanut butter ice cream sandwich was sooooo yummy, a nice mix of peanut butter and chocolate in between two chocolate cookies. The service was great and the ambience trendy. Great for sharing with friends or for the whole family with a variety of great choices. Reasonable prices....
