SUPER, DISAPPOINTING.
[They called me to make good on my bad experience, twice, i xalled back, then they talked to me for 15 minutes and said we're sorry, bye. Didnt want to offer any compensation for my horrible experience. VERY BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE. The door is still open for them, but I will not be going back. ]
I watched and watched and watched for this opening and finally got a chance to go. I've loved going to Chipotle in Toronto and in the US.
So I went to Muchoburrito in Westhills road just the week prior - twice because it was so good! They did an amazing job. They have whole wheat tortilla. They added all sorts of ingredients that were amazing. The flavour actually topped Chipotle from Toronto and in the US! I was super surprised.
There is a new king in burrito fast food - and it's not Chipotle - it's MuchoBurrito in West Hills.
Here's what went wrong at Chipotle.
I walked in. I was in a rush and I told them kindly. It took a long time, a few minutes, for them to even say hello and get to me. At the same time, employees in front of me were dealing with drive through stuff and not the person in front of them (me).
Then I watched at employees were prancing around, laughing and joking - meanwhile I'm still waiting to get my burrito started. I saw an employee walk right past the customer burrito prep area and scratch her back with her gloves on, then proceed to touch and prepare food in the back - HEALTH VIOLATION.
Then someone came and slowly made my burrito. There was only one person before me who ordered two burrito bowls, but they accidentally started to prepare three. I saw the ingredients were good for me and the beginning of my veggie burrito, so I encouraged them to deposit the bowl onto my waiting tortilla - saving them time and ingredients! So they did that and we moved forward.
Slowly they built my burrito.
When it was done, the person preparing it couldn't close it! The person who made my burrito actually had to call someone else over to close it, which took extra time. Then that burrito closing expert broke the tortilla.
She wrapped it up and tried to punch me in to pay. Touching the cash register with gloved hands.... NO GO. They needed some keys and they didn't know who had the keys or where they were. She called out to someone in the kitchen for keys. Walked away and looked around. Finally, the woman with the keys saunters up with a grin and laughing smile while I'm trying to pay.
I paid. They offered a bag. Fine. Lovely. But then I asked if there was napkins and they just lazily pointed in the direction of the napkins. At every other chipotle, they include 2-3 napkins in the bag. ?!
Come on guys. This is chipotle - after the US health violation scandal, I would have expected better service - and flavour!
There was only one person in front of me getting two identical burrito bowl (not three!). From the time I entered, till when I left, it took 15 minutes. There seemed to be some communication/language breakdown there.
I ate the burrito in my car and was surprised that it didn't taste as good as Toronto or in the USA.
Finally, I had a small allergic reaction! I am allergic to chicken and ordered a vegetarian burrito! So watch out if you have an allergy - CROSS CONTAMINATION likely.
Majorly disappointed. I will not be returning unless things change. I hope you have a better...
Read moreAlright folks this might be a bit lengthy. I have been a long-time fan of Chipotle's. Nearly 20 years now. This location is one of the worst I've been to. I've been to multiple locations in Canada and United States. It really bums me out writing this because Calgary is my hometown and I was beyond thrilled when a location finally opened here. I even came out for the grand opening. On that day, I was impressed with how efficient and organized they were considering the pressure they were under with the massive line-up. Then I came out again few days later and it was ok. Then again a week later and that was when the quality had noticeably deteriorated. It was pretty messy in the restaurant area. Dirty tables and floor scattered with rice & beans, used napkins and whatnots.
My 4th time, I went there again recently, and I think this will be the last time I go for a good while despite the good food (which is one of the reason why I gave it 3 stars not 1 because I'm loyal af). The portions keeps shrinking. I had to tell the workers to add more rice, beans and onion & peppers in my bowl. They gave me almost 1/2 scoop of chicken. I had to tell them to give me the proper amount. They smirked and laughed at me. Pardon me? I KNOW CHIPOTLE alright? I'm the customer here. They tried to make me pay for extra meat by adding that red clip on the bowl. I told them to get rid of it because it was not even extra to begin with.
To the manager: Kindly get your act together or ya'll gonna be the first Chipotle in Canada to close. Gotta take the reins and run a tighter ship otherwise you gonna sink before you know it. Ok ok, I lied earlier - I'll come again in a bit just because I'm too loyal to Chipotle... HOWEVER, I sincerely hope after you read all other similar reviews posted here, you'll take them to heart and smarten up, fast. Averaged and gave you folks 2 stars only because I can't get enough of the chicken bowls despite the subpar quality of atmosphere...
Read moreUpdate, I thought I should follow up from my previous review below. Decided to give this location another chance and this is what I experienced: The location was cleaner than my previous visit. However, the portions you get here pale in comparison to any location in the US. Let me explain further. I always order the same thing. Chicken bowl to stay with rice, extra chicken, extra salsa amd lettuce. That's my order wherever I go. Once again, the portions they serve here are significantly less. Even when asking for extra salsa, I received 3/4 of a scoop, and about 11 or 12 small strips of lettuce. Double chicken was approximately 1 full scoop anywhere in the US. I can hardly wait for the Setion location to open as I will never be back here!
Well, I have been here a few times now and decided that it's time to leave a review. I have been to Chipotle all over the US and at a couple locations across Canada. The negatives at this Calgary 32 Ave location outweigh the positives. I always order a double chicken bowl and this location continuously shorts you on the serving size. The quality of the chicken in my last 2 visits has resulted in several grizzly pieces and not up to what I would consider as the standard for Chipotle. This location, by far, is the most uncleanly of any location I have visited. Garbages are over full, garbage and used napkins on several of the bench seats and on the floor. It is quite clear that no one busses the restaurant through their shifts. Table tops not even close to being wiped down either. Staff were friendly...
