I've been a regular at this location for over a year now. I'm a fiend for the scones and cinnamon buns. They've always been reliable and good quality for a chain bakery. It's local, and I like to support local.
That is, until a month ago.
The quality has been rapidly deteriorating. This morning I had to ask for a non-burnt cinnamon bun. Yes, they had a rack full of overcooked, burnt cinnamon buns for sale. I couldn't believe they didn't pitch that batch straight into the garbage. I spoke to the owner's daughter who claimed they had a lot of "new bakers" and that's why the quality wasn't very good.
I'll be taking my business elsewhere until their "new bakers" figure things out.
Update: I'm updating my rating from 2 stars to 4 stars as there has definitely been an improvement in the quality in the times I've been back. It's still hit or miss though, and until there's that consistency I can't rate it 5 stars.
Second update: I'm dropping my rating back to 3 stars as I was served another burnt cinnamon bun today. It's hard to blame "new bakers" at this point. I wish the cinnamon buns weren't an afterthought. I really enjoy so much of their...
Read moreI come here quite often and everything has always been great until today. The female staff at the counter struggled to get my phone number right, even after I repeated it slowly and clearly 4–5 times. When I offered to write it down, she refused. After wasting several minutes, she asked me, “Are you from … because of your accent?” and then kept making guesses ???
Why do you focus on a customer’s background instead of simply doing your job properly? I was shocked as this is the first time I’ve experienced such unprofessional and rude behaviour in this country.
I’ve never had any issue with my accent here before. As someone who used to work as a server, I know that a customer’s accent, background, or race has nothing to do with how they should be treated. This kind of attitude is unacceptable and should not be tolerated. I hope COBS takes this matter seriously and acts on it...
Read moreToday,September the 3rd, I went to the marda loop cobs. My usual store.is the kensington one but sometimes I close to this one. There was 1 person ahead of me and I was waiting to be called then this white botox lipped Karen came into the store. She approached the counter and started to order. There was 2 woman attendant with a hat. And the "Karen " did even care about the others and the attendant didn't say anything that I was next or there were some people before her. So I left the store. They don't deserve my business. They have a terrible customer service also. Based on my previous experience, they're not friendly, always sulky faces. Never smile, never listen what the customer wants. Ex: I always ask a small.paper.back but they put 1 small item in a huge plastic bag. This happened several times. So, no...
