August 2025: Of course, I had to stop at my favourite breakfast/brunch stop in the entire country. This time, I tried something new!
I got the Broudon ($20) and my all time favourite drink the Iced Butterscotch Latte ($6.5). My latte had home made butterscotch and fuelled my body and soul. I’m obsessed if you couldn’t tell 😂
At first glance, my Broudon was intimidating. I thought I ordered a dish with too much tuna flakes. But, I was extremely pleased. It was stir fried udon with bacon jam, green onion, mushrooms, Brussel Sprouts, dried shaved tuna, a poached egg, pickled onions and spinach.
This was an extraordinary flavour combination that worked so well together, nothing was overpowering. I was actually enjoying the amount of tuna flakes. It was also a very large dish! Despite my best efforts, I couldn’t eat it all.
This restaurant lives in my head rent free 😂 I love this place and they never, ever disappoint. 💕
December 2024: my 5 star return Brouhaha was so good in July that I had to come back for NYE brunch. I was happy to get a reservation and order a Chicken on the Waffle ($21) and a matcha latte ($5.50).
Amazing as always, the flavours were balanced, quality high and price fair. It’s a really good crunchy yet fluffy waffle. Chicken was tasty and moist.
My matcha latte was not what I expected, especially from an Asian influenced restaurant. I expected genuine matcha or something close, instead I got matcha in a tea bag. It just tasted like slightly matcha flavoured milk.
Overall, good experience. Staff were very attentive and friendly.
July 2024 - My first time: Here is probably one of my most favourite reviews to ever write. Seriously. This experience has been my most pleasant ever.
What you see here is the So ‘soft crab benny and the iced butter scotch latte. I didn’t know what to expect ordering either of these, but holy shit I’m impressed.
Let’s start off with my only complaint. The brioche bun. I didn’t eat the top and I would have been happier with an English Muffin instead.
Now on to everything else. This is THE BEST eggs Benedict I have ever had. I ate literally everything on this plate except for the top of the brioche bun. The hollandaise was flavourful, potatoes were unique and delicious. But I was absolutely shocked by the love put into this plate and the presentation. The soft shell crab was delicious and not over powering at all. I would literally drive to Calgary just to taste this. I don’t think any eggs Benedict will ever live up to this.
And the drink! Home made butterscotch. Best iced coffee I’ve ever had. Literally was licking the straw for the delicious foam.
Now the vibes? Immaculate. They played House Music, GOOD house music. Not the generic, no singing or melody bullshit. Actually dance music. Staff were extremely welcoming and kind. A 20% tip was very fair.
This entire plate and drink was $35.92 with tax and tip. Honestly, I think this place is worth even more than that. Thank you for giving me an amazing solo brunch experience.
To top it all off, they gave me a sucker...
Read moreWe came to this little place for some brunch today @brouhaha_breakfast just opened 3 months ago and the food was quite good. We ordered their Omurice which I found the taste to be lacking in flavor. The white gravy was bland. We also had the Mushroom Truffle Festival and that was hands down the meal winner! That was so delicious, we wanted to lick the plate. The sweet grilled ham and cheese was also really awesome! The sweetness balanced out in every bite. The Benedict was good the eggs were done perfectly and the hollandaise was very good. The Brekkie steak bites were just ok at the bottom the hollandaise was really watered down and very thin. The Bougie avocado toast had no avocado in it. (They forgot) they remedied that situation by bringing us a side plate of sliced avocado instead of taking it back and remaking it. My friend had already finished finished most of it, we had been trying to get the wait staff attention but they never came by, other then took our order and gave us the bill. After we paid a gentleman came and asked if we wanted some water. I know places are short staffed so, I would of liked to have seen them took the plate back and redo it. I was so excited about the omurice, it was a bit disappointing. I'm still in search of the perfect Omurice. The search goes on...
Update: The owners had contacted me and had invited us back and it was awesome! They care about service.
Update 2023
Today, I went back to Brouhaha for breakfast which was really good. I have been here a few times now and it's been great. Today I ordered Caramel Banana Pancakes. It was delicious. With Butterscotch compound butter and Butterscotch syrup. My friends had Bennies Florentine and Steak Bites Scramble. Everything was hot fast and friendly service as usual. If you have not tried it out. You should! #breakfast #yyceatscalgary #yyceats...
Read moreTried Brouhaha for the first time and was genuinely impressed by how well everything came together, both in terms of food and vibes. I ordered their omurice and paired it with a strawberry banana shake, and I’m still thinking about the combo even hours later.
The omurice itself was such a pleasant surprise. The egg was incredibly soft—like, melt-in-your-mouth kind of soft—and it wrapped around the fried rice perfectly without overpowering it. The rice had a good bite and was seasoned well, but what really tied it all together was the ketchup sauce. It wasn’t just your average tangy ketchup flavor; it had depth, a bit of sweetness, and maybe even some umami that made every spoonful balanced and comforting. It gave the whole dish a homey, nostalgic feel while still tasting elevated.
Now, the strawberry banana shake? That was just the perfect drink to go with it. It was sweet but not overly sugary, creamy but still refreshing. The strawberry’s tartness and the banana’s mellow richness worked like a charm together. And in between bites of the savoury omurice, sipping the shake helped me sort of reset my tastebuds while still enjoying the interplay of flavors. It was like the shake was cleansing the palate while also acting as dessert.
Honestly, the whole meal had a great rhythm to it—rich, savoury, sweet, smooth. It’s not often I say this, but I didn’t want the meal to end. I left feeling full, satisfied, and already wanting to come back again. If you’re in the mood for a comfort dish with a twist and a drink that hits all the right notes, Brouhaha’s omurice and strawberry banana shake is a combo...
