Was looking for something different for lunch and stumbled across this little place on Google Maps. Saw their Wednesday special was a "Philly Steak Sandwich" on their website, which I thought was odd to not have "cheese" in the title and assumed it was a cost cutting measure or, seeing it's likely Asian proprietors (from the name) that also make Western dishes, it's understandable. In trying to order online, it did not have the daily specials, so I decided to drive there (my office is in the Crowfoot Crossing area, so very close by) and order in person.
I arrived around 12:30pm and the workers jumped into action as there were no other customers. They did indeed have the Philly steak sandwich on the menu and I ordered that along with the other Wednesday special of 5 chicken wings. It took less than 10 min to make my order and i say streaks a table to wait. As they gave me my bag of food, the nice girl working there told me that a glove was included for when I eat my chicken wings, which I thought was a unique touch.
I brought my order back to my office and was surprised to find 3 food containers and several ancillary pieces, the first of which I thought was an individually wrapped breaded and deep fried chicken wing, but it was actually a key ring that looked realistically like a chicken wing. That was nearly worth the price of admission and made a few office mates envious. The first food container had, not 5, but 9 chicken wings, the next food container contained a green salad with Caesar dressing, and a third container had my steak sandwich.
The first I tried were the wings. I ordered Honey Hot. There was lots of sauce, which is a good thing in my books. However, it was much more buffalo sauce or Sriracha than honey. I could have used more sweetness for sure, but it was edible. However, there was a weird slightly soap-y taste to the wings, which might have been so if I was their first customer for the day and their cooking utensils still had detergent residue. Anyway, a good rinse of utensils before first use might have helped.
Next, I opened the green salad and poured the Heinz Caesar salad dressing on it. Nothing fancy, but the greens weren't rusty and generally in good condition. Definitely, it was a nice extra since I didn't notice it mentioned in the menu.
There was also a small packet of four small sticks of celery and carrots and a container of ranch dressing, which I didn't notice in the menu as being included.
Lastly, I opened the sandwich. As I expected, there was no cheese on it. Unfortunately, the bun had gotten quite soggy, with runny juice dripping out from the sandwich filling. I had asked while they were preparing my order whether there was a sauce in the sandwich and they said yes, but I was expecting a creamier sauce that is based on mayo and or a thick barbecue sauce. Instead, their sauce was runnier, and that affected the integrity of the bun, which made for a messy eat. The steak was decent, nonetheless, and included green pepper, mushrooms, and I think there were onions. So it had the makings of quite a great Philly cheese steak that people might go out of their way to buy since there are few (no?) good Philly cheese steak sandwiches in town. The meat was just right, only needing to be fried on a grill with cheese and all the other fillings and then added with one of several choices of actual sauces, such as Mayo-ketchup or mayo-horseradish or mayo-mustard ketchup or bbq-and-something-else. The sauce should not make the bun soggy after only 5 minutes. Finally, the bun seemed fresh, but should be a bit toasted on the inside.
That's what I would recommend. The sandwich is okay as is, but it won't make any converts. Restaurant owners: I'd be happy to be your test subject should you decide to make the leap to becoming a go-to Philly cheese steak joint. I know what I'm looking for in a Philly cheese...
Read moreMost delicious popcorn chicken I've ever had in my life. It's so savory, and when I remember this place all I can think about is the popcorn chicken. Like I can eat the whole container of popcorn chicken for myself in one sitting.
And they have such a cute and lovely atmosphere. The last time I went (which was too long ago) they added a table of little trinkets and gifts like key chains, pens, erasers, fidget toys (I think) and crawl clips. I got a claw clip from there and it is so durable. I use it all the time, when i really don't want to use an elastic that's going to rip my hair out, I use it in the shower to hold my hair when it's conditioned/in a hair mask, and I use it when I just need my hair out of my face. Admittedly, the other claw clips I've used are smaller than the one I have from Day Day bistro, but I think if they were the same size, they wouldn't compare. I've fidgetted with the clip, dropped it, thrown it by accident, and it's been in the water as I said before, and yet it still stands and is in perfect condition.
Off topic, but they have that table placed perfectly. It's the first thing you see when entering the store, and as someone who loves consuming products, I went to it right away and started looking. It just has so many colorful trinkets and I love it. Like the marketing is on point.
Ans the staff is so nice, they give suggestions and they're just so kind. I genuinely wish the best for them. And if they go out of business, I think I'll cry, stay in my room for a week, and host a funeral for them.
TL;DR, best place ever. Please...

While I live in the deep South East of Calgary I found myself up in Crowfoot on a project for the first time in awhile. Initially I thought I'd grab some BK quickly but I'm really glad I searched "Food Near Me" in Google Maps and found this little Taiwanese gem! 💎
It's only been open since December 2023 so it's on its way to be well-known.
I LOVVVVVVVVVVE battered and deep-fried mushrooms, but I had yet to try "King Oyster" mushrooms so I was really looking forward to them. 🍄
I was not disappointed! I got two orders: One to eat at the restaurant and a second to take home for the family to try. I hope they love the amazingly spiced flavour and crispiness as much as I do! 👍🏻👍🏻
I surprised (and possibly offended) the Owner with asking for mayonnaise to dip the mushrooms in. LMAO 🤣 I explained my (white) family uses mayo as dip with so many foods in addition to the typical french fries. 🍟 She surprised me by saying she's never tried mayo with the mushrooms or even with french fries!
So enough about the amazing "King Oyster" mushrooms because the chicken burger was just as delectable. 🐔
It was soooo juicy 💦 and crispy. 🤤
You can choose from several different complimentary sauces and I chose "Smoke House" and it was so wonderful. Far better than any "ol' fast food chicken sandwich" you'll ever find.
🫵YOU DEFINITELY...
