Got some chicken for takeout last night from kTown after finding out the BBQ Chicken up the street was no longer open. Was extremely dissatisfied with this place. We got an order of the snowing cheese and a 5 piece combo with the spicy soy garlic along with the truffle fries, coleslaw and a pop.
For starters, they didn't give us our drink which we didn't realize until we got home. We ordered online and it said it would be ready for pickup in 28 minutes, which we went by. The food was all lukewarm by the time we picked it up and got it home (we only live a few minutes drive away in addition to using a thermal bag to hold the food, so it should've still been relatively fresh even though we did a takeout order)
As for the food itself, the story does not get any better. The fries were not great. Aside from not being fresh, they basically just tasted like salt. But the chicken is what REALLY got me heated.
I thought we ordered CHICKEN, but instead we ended up with 75% bones and breading. The entire time I was struggling to even find any meat to eat off of these pieces while trying not to swallow bones in the process. The meat I did manage to get off of the pieces was also very dry.
On top of the terrible "pieces" of chicken, they didn't even have great flavor. The snow cheese barely had any flavor at all. Might as well have just had plain fried chicken. The spicy soy garlic was okay I suppose, really nothing to write home about.
Can't believe I wasted 50 bucks on this. Never again. Save your money and go buy something from the grocery store instead if you're considering this place, unless of course you love gnawing on boney, dry, overpriced chicken. The BBQ Chicken will be...

Recurring issues with raised prices. The team is sending out bad food to people who aren't in the restaurant to get a replacement. Now they won't honour the replacement they said they would.
JULY 2024 | REVIEW 2 There were multiple issues with our order, again. The manager said he would replace our meal for free when he called me the same day, though in the evening at 10:15 PM. He claimed he would call me back the next day with instructions on how to redeem the free order. He never call again. It is now August 4th. We never heard back... Even when I used the website eform to prompt a follow-up.
We ordered rice balls to share with friends. Instead, we got a box of rice... The staff said the rice was a known issue that night... but they did nothing to alert us nor did anything to make up for it.
We had a recurrence with the chicken being an issue.
We also made a customized request which was not honoured.
June 2024 | REVIEW 1 For the most part, K-Town is my favourite fried chicken in the city. As of late, the quality had slid while the prices go up.
Last night my roommate and I ordered through Skip. I didn't want to complain because it was his treat. But, the more I think about it the more it bugged me:
Three pieces of the signature chicken meal was breaded bone and cartilage... No meat when we peeled off the breading.
One of the large pieces of chicken had no breading so the meat became hard and dry...
What I will say as a positive, is each time I ask to sub the wedges for fries and...

Basically we get less chicken for our money. Overall it's a decent joint, there are just way better Korean chicken in Calgary.
Green onion & cilantro: the tamarind sauce takes some time to get used to. At first you'll be wondering what the ** you're eating, then after your palate gets used to it, the sauce is delicious. It's very very heavy handed with the raw garlic taste. Not for everyone by any means. Cilantro was pretty old too (wilted and discolored).
Garlic soy (spicy ver. too): my personal go-to. Not too sweet with a prevalent garlic taste. The spicy version is arguably better because the sweetness helps mellow out the heat.
Snowing: just barely can taste truffle. The cheese they put on top doesn't melt, it forms a weird crust.
Creamy onion: do not like this creamy sauce at all. It reminds me of cinnamon bun icing, it's real weird. The freshly sliced thin onion contrasts perfectly with the chicken though.
Spicy chili: tastes exactly like what you'd expect. For spice lovers they might find it not as spicy.
K-town signature: no reason to get this honestly. The seasoning doesn't stand out.
Sweet and spicy BBQ: amazing sauce that's a staple for Korean fried chicken joints. Like a sweet chili heat that's very tangy.
They also give rice cakes with some flavours, I think it's traditional but they're quite gummy and have no...
