I’m writing this review not out of frustration, but in hopes that the restaurant management reads it and takes it seriously.
Our last two visits as a family were extremely disappointing - in service, food quality, and overall experience. Ever since Kinjo Sushi reopened after renovations, everything has gone downhill.
This is especially upsetting because for years, Kinjo Sushi was our favorite restaurant. We came here often, celebrated birthdays, anniversaries, and special occasions with family. It used to be a place we truly loved and recommended to others. But sadly, not anymore.
During our most recent visit, I dined with my husband and two sons. We spent nearly $200, but each dish took a minimum of 15 minutes to arrive. The food came out one small plate at a time, a few pieces of sushi or a few pieces of meat, and then we had to wait another 15 minutes for the next. We spent two hours just waiting and eating in uncomfortable silence.
We ordered a variety of dishes: meat, sushi, and more, but every single one was disappointing. The presentation looked rushed, fish slices were uneven and poorly cut, and overall, everything seemed careless and unappetizing.
We were served only one pot of tea but were charged for four. And we still left a tip. But honestly - for what? Two hours of waiting and mediocre food?
Even take-out is no better. One day, we ordered 10 pieces of chicken, we waited 20 minutes and were given just 5 pieces. Tired and frustrated, we didn’t even complain, but we certainly won’t forget. Another time, we ordered sushi for takeout. Right after the grand reopening, the sushi was beautiful and fresh. Two weeks later, the prices had gone up by 30%, the selection was smaller, and the quality dropped significantly.
To summarize: since the renovation and recent reopening, this restaurant has lost its charm and quality. After many years of loyalty, we’re simply not coming back. I’m certain we’re not the only ones who noticed this decline.
Please take this as constructive criticism - not just dissatisfaction, but a call for...
Read moreI arrived at the store around 4:20 PM on November 11.
I ordered three Kinjo Express Special Bento boxes and waited. The cashier, a male employee, already made me feel uncomfortable with his perfectly blank expression and cold, unfriendly tone, but I decided to overlook it.
However, after about 30 minutes had passed, I started to feel it was taking too long, so I asked another staff member if I still had to wait longer. That employee went to the kitchen to check and came back to tell me it would take 5-10 more minutes.
From my experience, preparing three bento boxes shouldn’t take even 10 minutes, so I suspect my order was only processed after I asked about it again.
While waiting, I requested a receipt from an employee named A. But she checked the computer, looked through the receipt holder a few times, then just turned around and went back to her tasks without saying anything. I was so shocked that I called her over and reminded her that I had asked for a receipt. Without even a word of apology, she blankly asked the male employee who had taken my payment to handle it. It felt like I was speaking with an AI.
Eventually, the male employee printed the receipt, but again, his expression and tone felt disrespectful.
Did I do something wrong? All I did was order three bento boxes and quietly wait for about 30 minutes before asking if I needed to wait longer.
Is it because I didn’t tip when picking up my order? Why are the employees so unfriendly? I don’t even expect friendliness, but why do they ignore customer requests and seem to lack care in their work? And why does it take 40 minutes to prepare three bento boxes?
I definitely won’t be visiting again, but I think the atmosphere needs to change, so I’m...
Read moreKinjo Milrise is the absolute worst. We have been regulars since the first Kinjo opened on McLeod and we have always loved it. But Milrise has gone way downhill lately. For some reason this location can’t seem to understand the difference e tween Sushi and Sashimi, they never fail to charge for sashimi - but somehow in the last few years, they always bring sushi… every single time. I must say though, tonight was the worst it has ever been. We called a week ahead to let them know we would be a table of ten, they said to remind them the day before, so we did and we also promised the manager we would come early, we did that too. We still ended up waiting 15 minutes in the cramped waiting area for a table that would normally only seat 8. Rough start. Then we got our drinks but after another 15 minutes finally had to se out in search for a menu. When the manager brought one menu for the ten of us we asked for another and he said he would… if we would split the bill into two?!? Fine. They gave us a trainee waitress (rude to this poor gal if you ask me, she was clearly over her head). She didn’t bring napkins or ginger & wasabi. She forgot one persons entire order. She forgot to bring us our bills. After 20 minutes we finally went in search to get our bills. In all, it took 1hr 40min from the time we arrived to the time we left. And the food? The rolls fell apart as soon as the chopsticks touched them and the sashimi was see through almost paper thin. I hope they get their act together over there. It’s been a fave of ours for years. Tonight was not worth $350, so...
