Hello everybody,
I'd like to share my experience with this establishment that occured on August 2nd, 2024. My girlfriend and I were looking for places to eat which eventually led us to this place. Having gone in the past we figured it'd be a nice quick stop for us, but unfortunately we underestimated how "quick" the service would be. Immediately upon entering Noodlebox we were met with some harsh judgement (glares, disgusted faces and etc.) from the lady working the till, and this was particularly aimed towards my girlfriend. I have no idea if she was feeling inadequate or something but when you work in the service industry you need to keep those feelings aside (I would know because I've worked in this industry for 5+ years). Although the red flags were apparent we figured we had no time to go anywhere else so we took the risk. I ordered a mild teriyaki box with chicken and my girlfriend ordered the veggie pad thai. The lady told us it'd take about 7 minutes to complete the order. Within 2 minutes of working on the order a line of people came in. This turn of event caused the lady to rush making our food (I counted it took about 4 minutes for her to complete our order). Being sympathetic we didn't complain and took our food to go.
When we began eating it became immediately apparent that some things in our order weren't up to par. The chicken looked barely cooked, my order was spicy even though I asked for mild and the flavour wasn't there. Clearly some shortcuts were taken which is unfortunate because we've ate at this chain before and know what to expect. The worst part was we were so hungry we devoured most of it before realizing these things. The consequence of this was we were both MIA for the rest of the night, and we had to cancel our plans (I'll let you imagine the details). This sucks because the food wasn't cheap either and was about $30 for two small takeout containers. Truly saddening that an establishment we really like would end things like this for us. :(
TL;DR The lady was being judgy towards my GF, our order was rushed because some people came in and we got some bad...
Read moreThis place has some good and bad points. The bad was I ordered a Cambodian Jungle Curry and asked if I could get it mild and she said okay. When I got it, it was extremly hot/spicy and I couldn't eat it. I took it back right away and after talking to the cook the girl told me that the sauce they used was spicy so it didn't come in mild. Well she should have told me that when I ordered it. I can eat semi spicy food as we eat Indian food a lot but this was probably the hottest level of spice they had, way beyond medium. I asked if I could get something else that was mild and the cook didn't seem to know what to do as he said he wasn't the owner. He said I could add sugar or something to it and I said that wouldn't help. So then he reluctantly said he could make me a Teriyaki instead. But we paid $4 more for the Cambodian one and they didn't offer to refund the difference in the cost which they should have. And they should have told me ahead that it was spicy and to order something else if I wanted mild and they should have offered to replace it right away when I brought it back because of how spicy it was. The good was my husband got the Butter Chicken and liked it and it had lots of chicken. The Teriyaki I ended up getting was good too but I wouldn't go back unless they refunded what they owed us. We paid $35 for both dishes which...
Read moreTL;DR: Tons of amazing noodles and veg at a great price. Would pick up myself next time, because Skip does cost a lot more, but will definitely order from here again.
I don't usually leave reviews, but the sweet little sticky note on my box thanking me for supporting their business convinced me.
Firstly: there is SO MUCH FOOD in one little box. I thought about getting a fried egg (and I think I will next time) but honestly I don't know where they'd put it. The box is crammed full, and there was enough that I'm leaving half in the fridge for lunch tomorrow and I'm plenty full tonight.
Also, I just adore the box. A really weird thing to be happy with, but I've always seen and wanted those little take out cartons on TV, and getting the little carton with the handle just made me irrationally happy. :)
I ordered the Spicy Peanut noodle box with mild/medium spice - it promised to be a nice dose of heat, though I was worried how they viewed 'nice' and how I viewed it might be different. Nope! It wasn't too hot, just the...
