I’ve been here quite a few times and never had any complaints until tonight. The food was amazing as per usual but the service was less than to be desired for. The women working were friendly enough but when myself and my family came in, four of them ordered cervezas and I ordered a lime margarita. They were given their drinks right away and after sitting down for awhile I went up front to ask if I could get my drink, and all of them were busy working in the kitchen and I was barely acknowledged. After we had eaten I got up to use the washroom only to find the toilet was left absolutely disgusting so I went up front just to let them know. I then decided to use the men’s washroom seeing as it was pretty quiet and I really needed to use the washroom.. only to find that it was also left with no water and filled with excrement. The least the staff could’ve done is put up an out of order sign so other customers don’t have to walk into that! However when I mentioned to the staff what the men’s looked like as well, the woman in charge laughed and just said “yeah, I know.” In my opinion that wasn’t a very professional response and left me feeling disappointed overall.. I might be back because I do appreciate the authentic food but I will probably be taking it to go!
Edit - I appreciate your response and I can completely understand them feeling overwhelmed - however with that said, it would’ve taken two minutes for one of the girls to put ‘out of order’ signs on the doors if they didn’t have time to address the mess. Even if they didn’t have time to do that, a simple apology would’ve sufficed. I wrote this more to inform you than as a complaint, maybe in the future the girls will think more of how their behaviour reflects on the establishment as we all left questioning how much they really care about the cleanliness and customer service when...
Read moreThis place is an absolute gem! They are running a great kitchen/restaurant and a pretty unique Mexican store in the back with almost anything Mexican you can imagine, spices, sauces, fresh and frozen tortillas, snacks and drinks, you name it!
The atmosphere is very pleasant upon entering, and the music is totally nostalgic and adds quiet the Mexican flare. We had to wait in line for a minute or two while a couple of people were checking out some food they got from the back but that wasn't an inconvenience.
We ordered two of the 3 fish taco combo' with refried beans and rice and the food was excellent. The tacos were juicy and very well seasoned.
We also ordered Pico De Gallo and chips to share and this absolutely blew us away. The chips were really crunchy and tasted great plain but once they were dipped in the Pico De Gallo they were next level. It was so fresh and the taste was a mix of sour and sweet and a little bit of fresh spicy and just overall a great starter. Would totally recommend. We took half of it home because we didn't want to be full before we got our main meal.
We checked out the back store portion and we were super intrigued by all the cool things we saw, most of which was not sold in any of the stores here in Calgary so this is a must visit for authentic Mexican snacks, meats, breads, spices and sauces.
I recommend everyone come here and try their food and to check out their store. I was very happy to experience it so I will definitely be back...
Read moreSo right off the rip: it's going to take 20 minutes bare minimum to get your order. So this isn't a good place to order food if you're in a hurry, but if you have a little time to spare I definitely recommend this spot. Pretty much everything i've had except for the friday fish taco special has been really good and very tasty. I didn't like this spot at first because of the wait time, but it has grown on me and I find myself coming back. I really like their sunday Menudo special, great way to kick off the day, tell them to add cayenne powder if you want a good kick. As far as their take-away shop is concerned, it's good if you're looking for Mexican snacks and candies, it's kind of limited in every other deparment. Good place to get dehydrated peppers, and it has an interesting frozen section that has a bunch of hidden gems. All in all, if you have time to spare and want some good fairly priced Mexican grub, check this spot out, and buy yourself a novelty snack on your way out, i've been pleasantly surprised by the picks so far. Only reason this isn't a 5 star is because there's nothing extraordinary about this place at all, but that's why I like it. Great Mexican spot that I keep finding myself coming back to on...
