Came here on Saturday to take advantage of the 50% off ramen as part of their grand opening. The family is always looking for great ramen places and this place did not disappoint!
Parking is a little difficult as their are a lot of shops and so there is limited street and side street (residential) parking available especially at night when parking is free on the street. I did manage to find something a couple of blocks away in a residential neighbourhood.
When we got to the restaurant the line was around the corner of the building. Despite that we decided to wait. A staff member came by with menus and order forms. Everything was quite efficient and we ended up waiting for only 30 minutes.
We ordered 2x Original Pork Ramen with thin noodles, Shoyu Pork Ramen with thick noodles and Spicy Garlic Pork Ramen with thick noodles. Everything was delicious! The broth was really good, the pork was tender, and there were a lot of bamboo shoots and wood ear. It's worth noting that that the original came with an egg but the Shoyu and Spicy did not.
Inside is not the most spacious but there are plenty of tables as well as option to sit at the counter. Staff were super friendly and as mentioned above super efficient getting through all the people in line. Will definitely...
Read moreI haven’t eaten the food yet, but I do love free items. Regardless the time we have been here is pleasant, quaint and enjoyable. With a simple layout of a menu and an easy accessible pathways of the restaurant, this hole in the wall here attached to an office building fits very well.
The pure black contrasted with the finished wood amongst the seating and walls is a great balance of detail and subtlety. Seamlessly blending into the lighting illuminating the backsplash of trim running along the walls. The music is catchy and easy listening adding some white noise to keep you chatting.
We came here during a quiet hour of the day so I don’t know what service is like when it’s busy. But it’s always nice to have a place to yourself, service is always dependable quick and reliable.
Food was wonderful, with the themed bowls in a splashy yellow it’s a nice aesthetic to your food. The meal for two was an easy choice of two ramens a side and 2 drinks for a set price. It was a slight wait but we aren’t ones to complain about waiting so long as we’re kindly taken care of while we visit a restaurant. Which we were, eat here enjoy your time and dine in, you won’t be disappointed by the taste, look or feel of...
Read moreToday was my second visit. On my first, I got the "pork spicy garlic" ramen and a side of gyoza. The gyoza were fine, but I can't say I cared for the ramen; it was TOO spicy for me. The broth looks like a rich Thai curry, deep orange colour, so it was jarring to taste it and find that, well, it's not Thai. Still, service was super sweet and I could see potential (really good noodles!), so today I made another trip, but this time I got the traditional pork with tonkatsu broth. To my taste, this was so much better! The broth is that milky style with fantastic depth of flavour, noodles and the pork itself was excellent, but the main reason I'm giving this maximum stars was THAT EGG. The jammy egg is one of my favourite thing about ramen, and the spicy garlic ramen, for whatever reason, doesn't come with one. Today's did, and WOW it is the best jammy egg I've ever had- at any ramen shop anywhere. It was perfection, almost creamy...I can't stop thinking about it. Next time, regardless of the ramen I try, I'm ordering an extra egg. Maybe two. Amazing. Service was again extremely good and nice and I'm really happy to have Kinton in my...
