The Memorial Park Library, located in downtown Calgary, is Alberta’s oldest and first public library. Established through the efforts of cultural pioneer Annie Davidson, it opened its doors in 1912. The building boasts a stylish exterior and, while the interior is small, it exudes a cozy charm. In front of the library is a poignant memorial dedicated to the soldiers who fought in World War I, adding a solemn and historical significance to the site. This historic library not only offers a vast collection of books but also stands as a testament to Calgary’s rich cultural heritage and community spirit.

When the novelty of working form home has MORE than worn off, I like to hit the Memorial Park Library and get a lot of stuff done - the oldest library in the province - which has been open since 1912. And now that the new downtown library branch is all the rage, it's typically very easy to come here and get an excellent table with a great view, power outlets, plenty of silence, great daylight, very strong internet (see attached photo of speed test), etc...

One of the oldest park in Calgary, water fountains and water splash ground fountains for kids during summer. The library was recently renovated inside and very historical and a small, however it just beautiful building, I think they used to have kid and parents program in the basement before covid but I don't know if they still have it on. It also use for voting and top floor is Wordfest. Wheelchair and elevator access on the back of the building.

I really love this library because the staff are so great! The recent interior renovations have matched the beauty of the exterior; making the space much more functional and modern. The only downside is the fact that they don't have as large of a selection of reading material that the other libraries maintain. However, if you order your books online, you can pick them up at any suitable location. Do be cognizant of the creepers in the park though. As I was walking through with my 2 children, a man appeared with a syringe in his hands. We veered off path to avoid him. After we returned our books in the book drop and rounded the corner to the main entry, there he was sitting on the stair case shooting up in broad daylight. It is very unsettling to see these things being done out in the open but seems to be common place in the city these days. I alerted the security guard who immediately...

This library is a real treasure trove of knowledge. From the first step inside you can feel the atmosphere of calm and learning. Here you can find books for every taste: from classic literature to modern research. The staff is always ready to help with selection or catalog navigation. The interior of the library is thought out to the last detail, creating a cozy space for reading and working. Comfortable chairs and quiet corners allow you to immerse yourself in reading without distractions. In addition, the library actively embraces digital technology, providing access to electronic resources and online databases. It's a place where everyone can find something for themselves, whether they're a student, a researcher, or just...

Lovely library with pleasant staff. I’ve really enjoyed tutoring here for the past six months. I was recently told that I was speaking too loud and that I may bother other patrons. I work out of libraries most days for both my tutoring job and my other job as a support worker. I have yet to run into this problem in other libraries, but I have seen quite a few people be talked to about their noise level in this specific one. Other libraries have quiet study sections, and I wonder if that’s a possible solution to this problem. I’ll be moving my activities to a library where I don’t have to whisper, but I suggest this one for a good, relaxing place to...
