Long review but here it goes. A friend of ours had a Christmas party, and ordered jerk chicken from here. The chicken was good and ofcourse, we had to get the name of the place and try out the menu. A few weeks later, i decided to grab some dinner after work. Called in right at opening on a thursday, and ordered 2 large jerk chicken, and 1 large oxtail for pick up on the friday after work.Upon arrival on pick up day, I was told that my order was non existant. The person i had talked to on the phone when I had called to place the order had never taken down my order and never put it in the system, therefore, they couldn't see it. The guy at the counter told me he can prep my orders, but because they were busy, I it will be a shirt wait of 10-15 minutes. The wait time seemed reasonable, and despite the dissapointment, the guy seemed nice enough. I ended up waiting for 45 minutes, to get my order! I paid and left. That was my first experience with this place. Fast forward to Monday, March 4th. I had a birthday celebration coming up for March 9th, and after my first experience, I decided to go in and order inperson, to ensure that I have jerk chicken ready for the party. At the restaurant, I met a person that looked like the owner at the counter (he had no uniform and had access to the cash register and the kitchen staff. All the chefs and workers have uniform), who seemed nice. I explained that I had a party coming up, and needed enough jerk chicken to feed 30 people. He recommended 40 pieces of chicken, if there is additional food being served at the party, which would be about 2 and a half trays. Price, $252, but because the order is above $250, they have to add 15% gratuity. I wanted to make sure that the birthday had enough food and the chicken would be ready for pick up, so i didnt fuss, paid and left. I picked up the chicken yesterday and of the bat, it seemed like alot less chicken than i was expecting, it ended up being 2 trays, instead of what i had expected. I still had alot of party prep to do, and I just picked up the 2 trays of chicken and left. At the party, I told my friend who had the Christmas party about the whole experience. Thats when I realized i had been ripped off. My friend had bought the same amount of chicken for exactly $100 (during the holiday season). He stated that for the amount of chicken, i shouldn't have paid that much. I never expected a legitimate business to rip off a customer. I had over paid by $200! for chicken! DO NOT cater from this place and I will not set foot at this establishment ever again. For these reasons, 1 star...
Read moreI placed a pickup order yesterday. When I arrived, the woman at the front—who was very friendly, smiling, and welcoming—told me they were out of the two beef patties I had ordered. She had replaced one with a chicken patty and the other with dumplings without calling me first to give me the option. I would have appreciated a quick heads-up to make that decision myself.
I accepted the order anyway, but on the way home, I realized the two drinks I paid for were missing. I turned back to pick them up. Once home, I noticed the chicken patty wasn’t included either—only the dumplings. By then it was too late to go back and ask for a refund.
Had I trusted everything blindly, I would’ve ended up without the drinks and without one of the patties I paid for—about $8 wasted + the extra dumplings I didn’t ask for but at least I didn’t waste money on the other missing patty. I find that disappointing, even though the staff were very kind and cheerful.
The jerk chicken was good, though not the best I’ve had. The dumplings were excellent, and the hot sauce was great. However, the plantains were dry, as if they hadn’t ripened enough.
On a $71.92 order, missing a paid item, having to return for the drinks, and getting a replacement without being offered a refund really left a bad impression. The staff were lovely in person, but if I had known the order would be this incomplete, I would have asked for a refund.
I don’t think it should be the customer’s responsibility to double-check every item in front of the staff—I’d like to believe everything is prepared correctly. Unfortunately, I won’t be...
Read moreI ordered food from Krazy Jerk the first time this evening, and after the first bite, realized I hadn’t truly lived until that moment. The portion sizes are generous, and the value for the price is outstanding. The Barbi Fry Chicken was nothing short of revelatory. Their culinary team somehow managed to make the fried chicken maintain its crispiness despite being doused with what has to be the best sauce I have ever tasted. The sauce has a beautifully balanced sweet-yet-savoury flavour with a hint of heat that makes its presence known without slapping you across the face with it. The dumplings were crispy on the outside, delightfully pliable on the inside, and had a hint of sweetness that just elevated them to the next level. The rice & peas went perfectly as a side pairing for the Barbi Fry Chicken. Honestly, I could eat this side dish as a main meal if they included a side of their Barbi sauce with it. The plantains were perfectly done, and I was given such a generous portion that I am saving the other half for breakfast tomorrow. I ordered 1 chicken and 1 beef Jamaican patty, but was so full after eating HALF of my Barbi Chicken that I also had to save them for future meals (Update: They we’re outstanding. Breakfast of champions!). The Peanut Punch was like drinking a liquid peanut butter cup, and it was a great dessert drink to finish off my meal. The staff here are very genuine, friendly and knowledgeable, and the service was fast and the food impeccable. Go out of your way to visit this local family restaurant, I honestly can’t...
