Don't eat at this restaurant!! Don't eat at this restaurant!! Don't eat at this restaurant!! The restaurant has changed ownership! It’s now run by a group of people from Guangdong, and they serve expired food. Portions have been reduced by 30% compared to before, and they forcibly charge tips. I can understand mandatory tips for a party of six or more, but forcing it on a single person is just disgusting. If you don’t pay the tip, they’ll insult you with extremely rude behavior.
I have a big appetite, so I ordered 20 lamb skewers, one portion of fried tofu, one portion of oysters, two portions of chicken wings, a few side dishes, and two cans of soda. I was planning to pack the leftovers for the next day. First of all, the lamb skewers were noticeably smaller than before—some were even half the size—and had a faint sour taste. The tofu was even worse; it was outright sour. The most disgusting part was the oysters. A portion is supposed to include two oysters, but they smelled so bad, as if they had just come out of a toilet. The meat inside was blackened. I asked the waiter if this was the intended flavor and, if so, to please throw them away and I’d still pay. If they were expired, I requested a fresh batch. (At that point, I was still willing to let it go and just not come back in the future.)
When the new oysters came, it was laughable and infuriating. The new batch didn’t have any foul smell, and the restaurant even gave three oysters as "compensation." However, two out of the three oysters weren’t fully cooked. Lastly, the chicken wings were fine in terms of taste, but the price had doubled compared to the previous owner.
The total bill was 97 $, not including the mandatory tip. I gave 100 $ and said to keep the change. The staff hinted multiple times that the 97 didn’t include the tip and probably expected me to pay 10%. I explained that 97 was the total, and paying 100 should be more than enough. Realizing I wasn’t going to pay an additional 10%, the staff insulted me in Cantonese, calling me a "poor loser." Since when did tipping become mandatory to the point of being verbally abused for not tipping? Tipping is a courtesy, not an obligation. Even many Western restaurants don’t force tips—what makes you think you can?
In summary, avoid this restaurant at all costs. The chef and management have changed, and there’s no reason to go to a place like...
Read more2.5 stars. Went with family the other night. It was meh. Mediocre. They didn’t have okra, they didn’t have enoki mushroom, no idea what else they didn’t have. And the meats; lamb and beef, were hard to chew. You get one flavour on everything. It’s just the spices mix they put on all the skewers. The “spicy” chicken wings tastes like the not-spicy. And all the “not spicy” skewers had a bit of spice, so if you can’t handle any spice then it’s not for you. The oysters were cooked. I suppose that is better than getting raw oysters that aren’t very fresh. The chairs were very uncomfortable to sit in, makes you want to eat quick and leave. And the place smelled not so great. The server brought out our waters but forgot to give them to us and we had to get up and grab them ourselves. But I guess that’s ok. They said 18% gratuity charge on big group, but thankfully told us they waved it, because they knew they were slow that day. I wasn’t sure if I should review, but it’s been two days later and we still talk about how much we regret eating here. I guess if you enjoy it, food is food. But if you want a yakiniku charcoal grill experience,...
Read moreWe had a solid experience tonight! Will definitely be coming back! Lots of options. Well seasoned dishes without being too salty, spicy or greasy. Reasonable prices as well. Favorites were the cucumber salad, garlic scallops and of course, the star of the show and reason we came, lamb skewers:) Service was great and despite being super busy with in house and online/take out orders, we felt well taken care of. They even threw in some free beef skewers bc they thought we had to wait a while for our round 2 of orders, but we didn't really mind the time! We also noticed there's not that many carb options, if that's something you want. We personally would have wanted a nice cold noodle or shredded potato salad with the same dressing as the cucumber salad, but that's just because of how...
