This happen in May but I told Marble Slab Company that I would not post my review until I gave them a chance to fix the issue. It never was resolved so here it is:
Today I came into your store shortly after 7pm and encounter a rude and aggressive employee of yours. There were only two employees there at the time; this guy “helping” us and a girl in the back. He finished with the previous customer and walk up to me and my girlfriend and didn’t even say hello or ask us for our order. We felt uncomfortable, as he was staring at us blankly, so we told him we want two orders of ice cream, and then I told him I had a couple which at that point he looks annoyed and scuffed under his breath. Once my girlfriend told him what she wanted he began to scoop the ice cream. Again, he didn’t even say anything to my girlfriend like, “Sure” or “No problem” or “I’d be glad to help you with that,” instead he begrudgingly starts to scoop ice cream. Finally, I ask him, “what wrong? Is there a problem?” His reaction, was shocking and took me back. He put down the tools he was using, stopped doing his job and asked me, “What did you say?” I never thought I’d come into your store and feel like your employees would try to pick a fight with me as if we were in a back alley of some shady part of town. We’re in McKenzie Town in fact, a community know for being friendly and safe. At this point I repeated what I said and he leaned towards me as if to convey to me, “say it again”. I stepped forwarded to and asked, “Are you not going to do your job?” and he continued to stared me down not saying a word. So, I asked him, “What are you doing just standing there? Are you refusing to help us?” and finally like a rubber band he snapped back into reality and said, “No, I am not refusing. I am doing it.” And only then did he started scooping ice cream again… check your video tape and see how long he stopped doing his job to try to intimidate one of your stores patrons.
I am shocked at this behavior for a store whom competes against, not only fast food chains like DQ and McDonalds, but big chain grocery stores of whom you are surrounded by. I was going to put this compliant on Yelp and Google Map, etc, etc. but then I realized it wasn’t the company that did this and at least I could give them a change to rectify what happened or at the very least explain to me your hiring practices to better understand how you hired an employee that start confrontations and escalate situations, let alone how you hire employees whom are angry and don’t greet or ask customers for their orders.
Honestly, looking at this stores (4600 130 Ave SE, Calgary, AB T2Z 0C2 ) google map reviews it looks like not much is going to change but I hope you’ll take action so that this does not happen to another couple whose biggest mistake was coming into your store to buy a few scoops...
Read moreMarble Slab Creamery is one of my favorite Ice Cream stores. When I was in Vancouver before, I always had ice cream from this store. The price of ice cream was a little bit expensive, but it was filling and tasty, which was totally worth the price.
After moved to Calgary, we had Marble Slab Creamery at the Chinook Mall once. There is a location on 130 Ave SE Calgary, which is very close to my place. May 20th, after our dinner, we went to this location to have a dessert.
It is a small location. There only two tables inside the store. We arrived the place at 7 pm. It was empty, not busy at all. We got inside the store and waited for a server to take the order. There were about 2 workers working outside and 3 workers inside the kitchen. They saw us, but Nobody talked to us. The two people who worked at the front were doing their own things. They were 100% ignored us. We stood there and waited about 5 – 10 mins. One guy who worked at the front had to ask someone from the kitchen to help us. It was very horrible customer service ever. We quickly took the order and left the store. The ice cream tasted fine. Just its customer service was terrible. Never go back to...
Read moreI've never been here before, I was actually insulted when I saw the tiny amount of ice cream, I asked for a large, I still could not believe the tiny amount of ice cream in the large-sized cup, (10 oz. apparently needs to be measured) or the size of the large cup for that matter, and the price, $10. Yogen Früz has a lot bigger cups. I see they have some bigger cups, I guess they are for the take-home flavours or something, I don't know how you can get them or why you would pay, I guess you can only get the tiny amount that fits in ice cream cones, and they always sell out, I guess. I seem to remember ice cream cones also being a lot bigger, weird. Then when I got home and ate my ice cream it had almost no flavour, only a hint of Bubblegum flavour trapped in pink ice-cream with a heavily-processed texture, not creamy at all, I would hesitate to call it ice cream, I came here for Bubblegum ice-cream, the ice-cream I had in mind was blue, this was pink, they keep it right beside the cotton candy ice cream, that's blue, after this I don't know why I would try it though. I could get over the size of the cups if the ice cream wasn't so bad. What is going on...
