Kondal was an excellent server-very attentive, polite, and quick with bringing things. It was not too busy, so we got seated right away, and only waited 10-15 minutes for our food to arrive. I took note of how clean everything was-the floors and all the tables were well-washed. The food was about a step above Denny's. Overall it was a good experience, but a bit pricey for what you get IMO.
My first experience with Cora was in Toronto, and then again in Montreal. Out there, you get exactly what is pictured on the menu, but it's not the case here. I tried the NW location here in Calgary about 5 years ago and didn't love it but figured I'd give this location a chance...my friend from the USA just moved up Here so I thought let's go to a Canadian place.
So yesterday I ordered the Samira fruit platter. I was so excited to have star fruit again, having grown up with it, and since most restaurants don't have it, I consider it a special treat. But... the platter came without star fruit, even though it shows it on the photo of the menu, and on the video on the wall of chefs preparing food. The star fruit was substituted for golden Berries instead, which are not the same taste or texture. It was disheartening to expect something and not get it... Plus, I am not sure that $20 is the right price for a platter of inexpensive fruits? - but I am happy that the apples were cut decoratively, as in the photo. Having food presented well makes me happy and excited to eat. The apples arrived white and went brown within 5 minutes- In Toronto, they spritz them with a lemon-water mixture to keep them from going brown, don't know if you want to try that? Ah, I also thought it was odd that the cheese came in crumbles rather than slices, since the photo shows it cut in triangles. Maybe update your photos?
The rest of the fruit was good, and above average: the watermelon was ripe, sweet and juicy, as were the strawberries and pineapple. The banana didn't have any Brown spots on it, and the cantaloupe was sweet. The grapes were washed well, and didn't have any mould on them. My American friend tried some of my platter and commented that he had never had fruit from a restaurant that tasted so ripe, so good job!
Anyway, I'll be going to the grocery store today to buy star fruit....
Read moreMy boyfriend and I went to Cora for breakfast last weekend. It was our first having Cora breakfast in Calgary. We had Cora in Vancouver and other cities before. This time We’ve been to the location nearby our place on 130 Ave SE, Calgary. Cora is a Canadian chain of casual restaurants serving breakfast and lunch. The first Cora was opened in Quebec, and now just Cora elsewhere in Canada. There are more than 50 franchises in Quebec and 130 across Canada.
Environment:
We arrived the restaurant around 9 am. The restaurant was very busy. There were lots of people in the restaurant. Luckily, we didnt wait for too long to get a table. Inside the restaurant was nice and clean. All the decorations on the wall are very simple and cute looking.
Server:
After we sat down, our table server brought the menu to us and began to take an order for the drink. Both of us had Coffee. After took an order, the server brought our drink to the table very fast. Our server was nice and friendly.
Food:
After discussed few minutes about the menu, we decided to order Tomatoes, bacon and green onions and Julie the Girlfriend for breakfast. Tomatoes, bacon and green onions was made by Poached eggs on an English muffin covered with hollandaise sauce served with roasted potatoes and fresh fruit. Available with one, two or three poached eggs! Julie the Girlfriend included 2 eggs, bacon and roasted potatoes served with a tasty chocolate brioche dipped in French toast batter and garnished with bananas, English cream Cora style and strawberry sauce. All the food came out from kitchen fast. They were well cooked and fresh. Most importantly, all the food were very healthy.
Prices:
The prices of the food were a little bit of expensive. But, I strongly believe that it’s worth the prices since they were all in super large portion, and healthier for people.
In summary, we had a great...
Read moreMy mother and I decided to go to Cora’s since it’s been awhile. We have gone a few times before. It was May 11th when we went. We went around 9:00 in the morning. The place wasn’t too packed but it’s normal for this place to be busy. We were seated very quickly and began to look at the menu. A gentleman greeted us and said what would like to drink and then proceeded to his other tables. 5 minutes later he took our order and gave us our drinks. The food came out, tasted good as usual, also finished our food. Through the whole time that we had been there, our server was nowhere to be found. A lady apparently took over and looked over his tables. But not once did she not ask if we were okay, the food tasted okay, did we need anything else. She walked by and asked every other table if they were okay. Are you serious ? She treated us like we were invisible. We just wanted to get a couple glasses of water. She walked by everytime avoiding our table. Not once looking at us. 30 minutes had passed and we asked one of the ladies that were cleaning that all we wanted was our bill and no one had given us that. She said oh okay I’ll get that for you. Then proceeded to talk to the lady that ignored us and asked if she knew who our server was. She then said I have no idea who is their server. My mom and I got furious. Is this how you treat your customers? All we wanted was our bill and to leave. The place was filling up quickly. The customers that were seated after us were already gone. We were still there with no one to help us. The other lady then proceeded us to the register to pay. In the many times that we’ve gone here, this is the first time we’ve been treated this poorly. From a gentleman who disappeared after taking our order to a lady who treated like we were invisible, this treatment was...
