Masala Theory Indian Bistro YYC — Restaurant in Calgary

Randomly stopped in after noticing it was now open. 6 days only, brand new. I needed dinner for the kids and husband and thought I’ll possibly do takeout here. So I went in, first impression small but super cozy. Spaced out really great, ambiance and atmosphere were perfect. The bar looked very classy. I asked the young lady if I could do takeaway (still undecided if this is where I want to get dinner) and she said yes. So a gentlemen came out his name is AJ. And he described the menu with great detail and answered all of my ridiculous questions about “mild” or “spicy” etc. Amazing customer service from AJ and the young lady who welcomed me. Ok so the food… AWESOME!!! Took home my takeout and we devoured it!!! My kids loved the butter chicken, mild. I tasted it and it was less sugar tasting than others that we’ve had, which was great!! Husband and I had the chicken paneer recommended by AJ. It was fantastic! Such a different dish from the curry ones. Just great!! Oh and well I waited for my order I thought I’d have a glass of wine. AJ brought me out a lovely chips and salsa combo on the house! Will definitely be bringing the family soon...

Beautiful new restaurant in SE Calgary, I feel spoiled having this so close to home. The food was very fresh, and it was spiced and cooked perfectly. The presentation of the food was modern and lovely. We shared the paneer appetizer, masala fish and chips and butter chicken with basmati and garlic naan. The masala fish was cooked PERFECTLY, and seasoned so well, like in a fine dining restaurant. The naan was amazing. The butter chicken flavourful, and the paneer and dips very tasty. The decor is beautiful. When you walk in you’re greeted by a modern bar and a beautiful mural. I truly didn’t expect such lovely design in our little stripmall! Everything from the artwork to the dining area to washrooms was thoughtfully designed. The service was thoughtful, timed well, informative and friendly. I couldn’t ask for more in a local restaurant, and am already planning my next time back or...

This was my first time here today. I came for the lunch buffet with a friend. The decor and layout is beautiful, modern, and feels spacious despite being a smaller restaurant. The buffet cost $21/person, and offered four different curries, fresh rice and appetizers, desserts, and sauces. They also have fresh naan that they make to order. They have plain naan (included), or garlic or spicy naan for an extra $2. I had the spicy naan - so good! All the curries and appies were delicious, and the gulab jamun was the best I've ever had! There are vegetarian options and meat options. The service was very friendly and attentive. Upon me inquiring, they told me children are very welcome, including strollers, which can be parked next to the tables (there is lots of room). I will definitely be back, with both friends...
