Missy’s is the kind of place that defies expectations. At first glance, it might seem like your classic dive bar, but spend just a little time here, and you’ll quickly realize it’s something far more special. It has all the laid-back charm and unpretentious vibes of a dive, but with a level of luxury that feels almost indulgent.
The cocktail menu is where this fusion really shines. Sure, the atmosphere is casual—dim lighting, cozy corners, and a sense that you could spend hours here—but the drinks are on another level. Every cocktail is crafted with care, balancing creativity with a deep understanding of flavor. Whether you’re sipping on something smooth and refined or a concoction with a bit more edge, each drink feels like a treat.
And the food? Missy’s turns snack food into a gourmet experience. Rich, delicious, and downright addictive, the dishes here are far from your typical bar grub. Imagine your favorite comfort foods, but elevated—every bite delivering an explosion of flavor that pairs perfectly with your drink of choice. It's the kind of food that makes you want to order everything off the menu, just to see what other surprises await.
At Missy’s, it’s all about contrasts: luxurious but laid-back, indulgent but approachable. It’s a place where you can enjoy world-class cocktails and gourmet snacks without ever feeling out of place. A true hidden gem, where you can unwind, indulge, and have a genuinely...
Read moreAtmosphere: 5/10 Located on the second floor in Calgary’s Beltline district, Missy’s This That offers a diner-style bar atmosphere with red neon lighting and bar counter seating. The backbar is not prominently featured, and the overall design leans towards a simplistic, college-diner aesthetic. While there are various seating options around the bar, the ambiance felt somewhat basic and lacked the vibrancy expected in late hours. Music volume was appropriate, featuring hip-hop that complemented the setting.
Drinks: 6.5/10 Recommendation: – The menu is relatively simple, with limited diversity in offerings. A notable feature is the inclusion of different cup and glass shapes for each drink. However, presentation is extremely basic, with no garnishes and average glassware quality. The flavors did not stand out, lacking complexity and maturity.
Service: 7.5/10 Water was served upon arrival. The young team was friendly and attentive. Prices are average for Calgary, but felt too high considering the overall experience...
Read moreWhat an excellent hidden gem this place is. We wandered in and took our time with the super-encompassing wine, beer, and cocktail menu. We were given some Sensum Laxas Brut to try that immediately made our list of bubblies to buy for the home. We shared a bottle of Le Chenin d'Ici which was buttery and served at the perfect temperature. My boyfriend got a cocktail called "Layover" that was so creamy and tasty, and another cocktail called "Tommy's Tropical Sazerac" that seemed boozy at first scent, but was actually quite tasty and went down easy with its banana flavours.
With such an extensive list of Lambic beers I absolutely had to get one of those too, and I enjoyed the Tilquin Mirabelle Lambic. Fruity and sour, this hit the spot.
We were very impressed by this place. The servers were super kind and attentive, and the music was on point. Highly recommend if you want to hang out and enjoy a hit list of a beverage menu in a cozy...
