Where do I start… Booked a room with a SEPARATE living room area because our toddler doesn’t sleep well in the same room as us. Requested a crib as well so we didn’t have to bring our own.
Call a few days before adding an extra day to our stay, they say it’s no problem we just need to downgrade to a queen bed from a king bed, we don’t care about the bed and add the extra room. I double check we still have the extra living room space that’s separated from the bed (a 1 bedroom apartment like set up.) everything is fine.
Call the day of the reservation at 12pm, make sure they are going to have the crib in the room ready to use because we’re going to be getting in late and just want to go straight to the room and transfer our sleeping toddler from the car to the crib. They are literally doing the room change over and assure us the crib will be in the room when we get there. My husband and mother in law are in the room, I’m talking on speakerphone and they heard them say the crib will be there. Also had to call three times to get through to someone, one person just hung up on me, should have been my first sign.
We get there and check in, did the pre check in and just ask if the crib is ready. They say it should be in the room and if not they’ll bring it right away. Tell us to go check the room for it, toddler has waken up at this point… great. Get to the room, no crib, of course. Husband plays with our toddler and I go down to see where the crib is at. The front desk person ASSURES me that the crib is on its way to the room and is basically telling me to calm down and not worry about it. I then advise her of our second issue we have, that we were given the wrong room. When they added another night and downgraded it to a queen they also downgraded our room and it no longer has a separate living room space. I’m focused on that issue at this point since they tell me the crib is on the way to the room, phone my husband who doesn’t answer and I assume he’s putting the toddler to bed in the CRIB that SHOULD BE IN THE ROOM AT THIS POINT. They tell me that they don’t have the separate living rooms available and don’t have any adjoining rooms either, offer us a jacuzzi room, I don’t want a freaking jacuzzi I need a crib. One of the front desk people said they don’t even have rooms like that at the hotel and the other one said they did, I’m just so confused at this point.
Just as they are finishing telling me that there are no rooms available of the kind we booked this guy comes out of the back and tells me that THEY DONT HAVE A CRIB IN THE HOTEL TO GIVE US.
I basically demand a refund, we were going to let the separate living room issue slide because it isn’t that big of a deal, we can deal with a not so great night sleep with our toddler if it comes to that, we just want to go to sleep because it’s late. But not having a crib was just not going to work.
Currently at the best western not far away for the same price (free parking and breakfast which this hotel did not have) called them when I found out they didn’t have the crib all along and they had a room saved for us and they had the crib in the freaking room before I even officially booked the room AND it has a separate living room.
Hoping that they actually properly did the refund but I’m not counting on it, will see in a few days if it worked.
Absolutely insane to do this to a family with a 1 year old toddler. It’s one thing if we were ill prepared and requested a crib last minute but we: Made the booking requesting a crib/pack and play Confirmed again when we added an extra day to our reservation Called the day of when they would have been doing the change overs for the rooms to at this point triple check they had the freaking crib and they assured us they did
Service was awful, the people at the front desk acted like I was being pushy and over the top requesting the crib right away, like it’s 9pm and we need to put our toddler to bed now. Basically saying, we’re getting the crib, no need to worry. THEY DIDNT...
Read moreWould I recommend it? No. Its extremely overpriced for a mediocre hotel with mid service and average food. It does the job if you just need a place to sleep, but its ABSOLUTELY not worth 150CAD a night. Its closer to Motel quality than even the most basic of decent hotels. The pricing is a scam and not worth it.
Honestly I was extremely dissapointed in this hotel. There was a huge amount of miscommunication with every interaction we had with hotel staff and were given wrong information multiple times, their hotel services list and qr code they provide is extremely outdated, like 5+ years outdated.
One of the people at the front desk treated us terribly over the phone, and the manager didn't know how to give us the breakfast included in our reservation. Some of the people at the front desk were nice, and the bartender was the only truly good thing in our experience. But the overall experience was not good, if im being honest.
We were told we could get laundry detergent for free at the front desk to use their coin operated laundry machines, and they didn't have any for two days, so we had to go buy an entire pack of laundry pods for one wash, and the machines weren't even coin operated as we were told twice and how its listed in their website AND qr code for hotel services left in the room.
On the same note, we saw room service was offered in their hotel services list so we called to ask and the man on the phone answered everything condescendingly and very rudely told us he "didnt think they had any room service" (was not sure???) and got angry when i mentioned it was listed in their hotel services and their phones even had a button specifically for room service.
They only have ONE person staffed in the kitchen for breakfast, making food, taking orders, bringing them out, ALONE. for a pretty big hotel, that is honestly horrible for the person staffed and sucks for guests too. Same goes for the bar, they only staff one person to do everything and back when they had room service the bartender even had to go up and work room service as well leaving the bar unattended. This is honestly just inhumane and terrible work ethics for their employees and also affects guests.
They allow random people (non-hotel guests) and homeless people to just walk in and use their laundry machines and bathrooms with no limitations, which seems super weird to let any non paying person to just walk into a hotel and use their amenities.
In terms of location, its right in Downtown Commercial near Stephen Ave. which as much as it isnt the nicest place in calgary it is nice and a good spot to get to other areas of the city (go to Victoria Park for a nicer area if you ask me) however it seems that downtown has potentially been hit by the fentanyl crisis, its pretty much impossible to walk this area without being approached by someone who is on heavy drugs and its really sad to see this in...
Read moreIf there is a 0, I would rate it a zero. The customer service is unbelievably terrible. I booked my stay 3-4 days in advance and called to reserve an extra cot for my room. Over the phone, they said it should not be a problem and I do not need to reserve a cot because they are not busy. Upon arrival we were checking in and I was handing a voucher of my Wyndham points. The front desk named Terry or Tracy refused to take it because of COVID-19 limitations. I understood the restrictions and policies. But this employee was not doing her job properly. Because the reservation name is under the Wyndham point claimer and the guest name is under a different name; which is stated in the voucher. She kept arguing that the next time we reserve a hotel, it should be under the same person. But we have been booking hotel the same way in order to collect our points. When I got into our room, our request cot was not in the room, and our sheets had multiple stains. After 5 minutes Terry or Tracy called and said we cannot have a cot in our room for it is a small room. After our conversation I went down and asked if I could upgrade to a room where they would allow a cot, because when I spoke with them over the phone 3 days before my stay it was not a problem requesting an extra cot for $10. And she said, “I already put you guys in the corner room so its the biggest room we have.” So why can’t we have the cot we requested 3 days ago? The only solution I can see is to wait for the next front desk personnel working. And when front desk person is different, I asked for the cot we requested and he immediately said I will see if we have some available. The point is.. we requested and we wanted to reserve it 3 days ahead and they said we do not have to for it would not be a problem. But the next front desk person had duvets for us, which solved our problem but isn’t a great solution. I am highly disappointed with Tracy or Terry. For the worst customer service she...
