I am from Las Vegas in the States. Panda express is known for their orange chicken. However I always order the honey walnut shrimp and eggplant tofu. Have been here for 1 year and didnt know panda express was out here! Could've sworn when i first got here and checked maps the nearest one was over 30 mins away. Saw this place when i was on the hunt for an AC unit a couple weeks ago. Came back today and decided to get this for the family for a pre birthday treat for my husband since we cant fully celebrate till the weekend. PLEASE DO NOT JUDGE THIS COMPANY BASED ON THE BAD COOK OR POSSIBLY MANAGEMENT CUTTING CORNERS TO KEEP COSTS DOWN. I assure you, Panda express is NOT flavorless in the States! But it is here.... I wish i bought a 1 item bowl before buying 4 3 item plates :( The fried rice is awful. NO FLAVOR AT ALL. I promise in the States you don't even need to add soy sauce but out here even soy sauce wouldn't help... The noodles arent as flavorful as in the States but more flavorful than the rice but thats NOT a compliment. The Honey walnut shrimp has NO walnuts! LMFAO! honey walnut shrimp is a BIG thing in the States .... This is NOT even close to the flavor you get at panda express in the states. I dont know whats wrong with this Panda Express but i think they are really skimping out on the sauces they are supposed to be using. I usually get chicken with string beans at panda in the States but they don't have that here. So i tried the sesame chicken. I was shocked it was the only flavorful thing i had on my plate! Oh wait! I lied! As I was typing this i found 1 tiny piece of walnut in the honey walnut shrimp!! ROFL!!! the sweet and sour sauce is ok.... Usually i dont use it for my rolls because it over powers the flavor of the spring roll and i want to taste my rolls not just sauce.... But since the rolls are tasteless i had to dip it all the way through. Usually i take one bite no sauce then one bite sauce and rotate. So here's a possibility... Its the location that is awful. I definitely WONT be coming back here. I Should've just bought groceries with my $67 and made a flavorful dinner. I will check out the other location because sometimes its just a cheap manager cutting back on costs so they get their bonus but hurting the location or the cook has no idea what they're doing. Or.... Panda is just not good in Canada. PLEASE try Panda in the States! I assure you it's 10 TIMES BETTER! This is a sad excuse for whats called Panda Express. Im sad now......thought I had found a little peice of home out here but that is a sad "NO." But i dont want to take away from the employees. They were very nice and full of customer service and the establishment was VERY clean. in fact i give the employees and the cleanliness a 5 STAR! I want it to be known the 1 star is all towards the food. With how crazy inflation is these days going out and spending almost $70 on 1 meal for your family is not something most of us can commonly do. I really...
Read moreMy wife and I decided to try Panda Express for a home date night dinner as it came highly recommended by a close friend of ours. We chose to order online, and pick up our meal since they didn’t have delivery. At first glance the price seemed too good to be true as we paid just over $20 for our meals (average dinner size portions for two at a typical Chinese food establishment usually running about 45-50 dollars, unless of course you want specific items).
However upon arrival at the location in South Trail, I realized the portions were about a lunch size. I appreciated the simplicity of ordering on their website but it would’ve made more sense to provide a more comprehensive approach in the event I or any other patrons of this establishment would like a dinner size portion rather than only the choice of lunch or catered sizes.
Upon opening the meal, I got the sense that the food was harvested from their buffet style layout on location as opposed to being made fresh (picture yourself having dinner from food prepared around 11 am for lunch, it sitting out in the open air of a restaurant for six hours after it had been made). Within the first few bites not only had both my wife and I concluded that it was starting to turn but additionally it must’ve been the last of what was already on display. Long story short my bathroom and I grew quite close that evening. I appreciate my friends suggestions when it comes to cuisine, however there will be no repeats for Panda Express after this experience. The food itself was extremely sweaty starchy, flavourless, and lukewarm. I will also add the spring rolls were undesirable, they smelled and tasted burnt and clearly had been sitting out all day.
As a recommendation, throw a stone blindly in any direction in Calgary and you’d certainly be able to hit a fine Chinese food establishment superior to Panda Express (South Trail). It certainly did not live up to the standards that made it so famous in the...
Read moreI have NEVER written a negative review of a restaurant, only positive. I am rarely disappointed. However last night I made my third ever trip to Panda on 130th, and it will be my last. The first thing I noticed being 3rd in line was there was a lot of confusion, and watching the 2 up front staff was like a cartoon, bumping into each other laughing making the fact that some dishes were "out" or would take 5 minutes was somehow funny. I know that fast food it where you find teenagers, but it shouldn't be ALL teenagers. When I got to the front, I ordered my son's favourite, orange chicken, and in keeping with the two prior visits, NO orange chicken. And 5 minutes to wait is ridiculous. This is obviously one of the most popular dishes, and you didn't just open yesterday, MAKE SURE you ALWAYS have plenty. It's not rocket science. I wanted shrimp, and the two shrimp dishes both didn't have enough for one order, so like anyone with half a brain I said "OK, just put the two together and I will pay the higher price" makes sense right? But you know what the geniuses at Panda Express decided "sorry I am not allowed to mix them". Are you kidding me, do they not get along, is my money not good enough. It's not like they have that many items, its actually an extremely limited menu. I just don't get this place, I wanted to scream and insist, but by this time there were 10 more suckers lined up behind me. I would recommend that if you have a sense of reason, DON'T GO TO PANDA EXPRESS. There are too many other awesome food choices around that have at least one reasonable adult...
