Pho 99 — Restaurant in Calgary

We used to LOVE Pho 99, but we haven’t been in years and after returning yesterday with our family we had a disappointing experience that did not live up to their past service and quality.

The atmosphere has always been a 2 star BUT the food and service more than made up for this in the past. Yesterday, we came in for dinner around 5:30 and the place was nearly empty. There were two other tables and our server was frequently unavailable to ask for the basics that were forgotten - side plates, more water which had been asked for, etc.

The salad rolls were falling apart - the rice paper not adhering and full of holes making it difficult to eat.

The curry soup which was reportedly not spicy was so spicy no one at the table could eat it- for reference I ordered this all the time in the past and had no issue.

The establishment is in dire need of repairs and general maintenance but being literally taped together in an attempt to hide the sewer gas smells in the washroom. So unfortunate to see this after this was one of our favourite go to restaurants...

delivery service is an utter disaster. Placed our order on their website for delivery. Entered the house address and was up charged $6 for delivery. Understandable given price of gas. Finished entering order and was provided two payment options - cash or card at the door. Selected card at the door. Restaurant phones to inform me I need to pay up front. Told the caller they need to update their website thinking they’d appreciate someone telling them about the issue. Instead I got complained to and told I needed to pay first. Rude, but okay I provided the Credit Card Number. 10’ later they call back to tell me I live too far away and need to pay MORE for delivery. Told caller to forget it and cancel the order. Was told it was too late to cancel. So now I have to cancel with VISA because of this nonsense. We supported this place through COVID and now regret doing so. Your service is horrible and if it were possible to rate you less than 1 Star I would. Order from these thieves at...
