We stopped by Sabores Mexican Cuisine at the Calgary Farmersâ Market to pick up some of their house-made corn chipsâand weâre so glad we did! The steady line hinted at something special, and it didnât disappoint.
We were initially eyeing the Maya salsa, known for its heat, but Sandra kindly offered samples of several varieties to help us decide. We ultimately chose the Cranberry Chipotle salsa, which turned out to be a group favorite. It had just the right amount of spice, a hint of sweetness from the cranberries, and a creamy texture thanks to the cream cheese. Absolutely delicious!
Sandra made the experience even better with her friendly and knowledgeable service. She even threw in a jalapeĂąo salsa sample on the house, which paired perfectly with the chips. The house-made chips themselves were outstandingâcrispy, fresh, and seriously addictive.
The salsa selection was impressive, ranging from avocado and cactus to creamy jalapeĂąo and mango-infused tomato salsa. We really appreciated the variety and authenticity of the offerings.
We didnât dine in this time, but weâre already planning to come back and try more of their authentic Mexican dishes. The service was excellent, the staff clearly know their stuff, and the vibe at the market added to the overall experience.
Looking forward to returning. Highly...
Read moreShared an almost $14 burrito with my husband. It was SOOOO BLAND - what tasted like simple boiled rice with carrots and green peas (like the frozen kind you get from the grocery store) and some ground beef (I didn't taste any seasoning) and cheese all rolled in a tortilla. There may have been a few beans in there but I didn't have any on the part I ate. A skimp of sauce on top cross-wise (not lengthwise) that offered no perceivable flavour to the blandness inside. The chips and bit of salsa the burrito came with were good and we tried to spread the salsa on the burrito to offer it some flavour. Very disappointing as I love the flavours of Mexico - chilli, cilantro, corn etc. Sadly they were missing here.
Edit: I appreciate and respect this business owner's response to my review - thank you. I am familiar with authentic Mexican burritos, and agree they are different than what many here expect. May I suggest a warning to patrons of the simplicity of the burrito and an automatic offer of extra salsa or sauce to those who might have a more adventurous palate? I understand controlling costs but frozen peas and carrots might be helped by some corn - cheap and delicious sweetness and crunch! Much respect to the business owner for her response. I have...
Read moreFirst off, I want to mention Iâm Mexican, so when it comes to good mexican food, I know what Iâm talking about.
I had the pleasure of meeting Sandra yesterday, and the service she gave me was absolutely top-notch! She was super kind, helpful, and really attentive. She even threw in some extra goodies with my order, which was AMAZING by the way!
I ordered carnitas and salsas for a get together, and everyone couldnât stop raving about it. Everything you need is included: salsas, tortillas, cilantro, onions, even limes, so you donât have to worry about a thing.
The carnitas? SOOOO GOOD!! So flavourful and tender. The guac was spot on, and the salsas were super fresh and packed with flavour. Honestly, if I could give more than five stars, I would.
10/10. Highly recommend! âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸
