Sharma Sweets & Restaurant — Restaurant in Calgary

We are writing this note of review based on the unpleasant experience and impolite treatment we had faced while we had availed the catering services from the restaurant Sharma Sweets. We had our housewarming ceremony function on the 1st of July 2023 and event consists of 30 people. We decided to have the food catered with Sharma Sweets and was notified to them that the food should be ready for pick up at 11:00 am.. Just a week before the function date, we called them and notified them to increase the food quantity for 35 people which they confirmed.

On the day of the ceremony, we had reached the restaurant to pick up the food for 35 people at 11:00 am. When we reached the restaurant, the staff advised us that the food wasn’t ready. We had to wait for an hour to get the order for pick up. When we served the food that is when we realized that the food order handed over to us was only for 30 people instead of the revised count for 35 people also and they had charged us the payment for 35 people. We were left embarrassed and shocked as the food was short for the invited guests and a couple of families had to leave without a meal. It was very upsetting and annoying, we literally had to cut a sorry figure in front of the whole invited family members and friends.

We later called up the restaurant and reported it to a lady personnel in charge at the restaurant. She did listen to the entire scenario and she replied to us that she would call back after half an hour as they were very busy. But we did not receive any call from them. After a day we called the restaurant back and the same lady personnel answered and notified us that she would handover the call to a person addressed as Bhai (we aren’t sure about his position with the establishment). We explained the entire scenario to him and to our astonishment the response was very rude and accused us of fabricating the entire scenario to fraudulent acquisition to seek a discount from them. Even denied our claim and did not even bother to accept his and the restaurant’s error.

When we confronted him saying that we have photographic evidence of one of the dishes “ALOO TIKKI” that was short, it were only 28 pieces instead of 35 pieces, that’s when he lowered down his intimidating tone and but replied in a rude that there could be a possibility of an error on the count of the dish ALOO TIKKI by the restaurant but still stuck to his statement that the main course was delivered as per the final count. We also highlighted the fact that the time agreed for food pick up was also delayed for which he accused us that our guests had arrived early and it is not the fault of the restaurant. He even claimed that we did not inform them at the very instant that food was short. Such unprofessional rude attitude and bad customer service experience has annoyed us and forced us to write this note to let the entire customer loop to refrain from availing the catering food services from Sharma Sweets and will not dine out with them nor will recommend Sharma Sweets. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL & RUDE...

Super awkward experience. We went with the intension of dining in. If you are thinking about dining in than you have to pay more on food. So bought our food and ate in the parking lot. Food prices are super high for the quality of food. I have had better indian food in Chinese restaurants than this place. When we went there, the floor were freshly mopped. (NO WET FLOOR SIGNS IN SIGHT) It literally felt like walking on oil and water. Very unsafe.

Also, Public Bathroom and kitchen is right next to each other which is just my personal pet-peeve.

For 5 plates of samosas (they dont do samosas by numbers but by plate- 2 in each which is lame) we got 1 little container of red and 1 of green sauce only.

Paneer pakoda were okay but not fresh for sure. Stiff paneer instead of soft and melting in your mouth.

Restaurant didn’t looked like it was wheelchair accessible. The entrance is very confusing and small.

It was my first and last time...

I ordered from this place few times through Uber eats and the first couple of times the food was OK but the last three orders including today were not great at all! I always put instructions on for spice levels Etc and none of it was payed attention to at all times even after i called the restaurant right after placing Each order and telling them. My requests were not outrageous either i just asked for cilantro and ginger and got 4 strings of ginger on my dish today 😆 ( what a flicking Joke) They also make the food very quickly which I dont like at all and i ordered sweets today and it tasted like the freezer! Not fresh. I kept giving them business but doesn't seem like they care so thats going to charge starting today!!!!!!!!! They'll definitely see it in their inventory. ...
