Entered the restaurant, had a reasonable but already fore shadowing - uncomfortable and introductory chat, being from Germany myself, Bavarian Red Seal Chef etc, etc. ....this not being the point I want to make, just outlining that I am not a novice in the restaurant industry. I wanted to try their food, was excited to do so, but never got to that point. I was "informed" that one can only order the course - menu versus single items. With that in mind I took a seat. I wasn't hungry enough for several dishes/courses and asked if I could order the Gulasch soup, have a beer and decide as I go to order more or not. The owner I assume, responded verbatim: "That's not how we usually do this....". Keeping in mind I was a first time guest in that establishment. The host introducing the guest to her concept of how to order from their menu? - is the antithesis of the definition of hospitality. I kept my composure and opted for a beer in order to decide what to do next, being slightly but negatively surprised. When ordering the beverage, already emanating the probability of not ordering food - it was said once again, "that's not the way we usually do it"...reminding me / the guest...."...this is why I explained to you initially how to order from the menu - that is was suggested to share / order all courses instead of single dishes...". I got up said thank you and left the establishment. The female asked on my way out.... "What do you suggest?" I answered: definitely more flexibility especially for first time - guests. The essence of the visit there was/is: either one orders the course meal or one won't be served. Not my kind of friendly Austrian atmosphere - quite the opposite actually. I lived 17 km from the Austrian border (then) and went countless times to enjoy Austrian hospitality. This restaurant I am reviewing here has absolutely nothing to do with that. It has enormous potential, and could be one of a kind in this area but not with that approach and attitude. And if one advertises and sells Austrian Cuisine - make it and keep it so, regardless of decades spent in Northamerica. That's my professional suggestion. Good luck Wiener Schnitzel Haus!

We've been coming here for amazing, fresh schnitzel since they opened this family run restaurant over ten years ago. The food is always spot on and this is always my go to restaurant for my birthday or any special occasion that warrants a night out. Rich and a little indulgent it's a perfect place to enjoy authentic schnitzel. Our absolute favorite thing on the menu is the Jaeger Schnitzel (also known as hunter schnitzel with a mushroom brandy sauce) and the desserts are made in 'haus'. Can't recommend enough if you're looking for something different! It's a small family restaurant so I'd also recommend reservation if you're a large group.

We were seated next to the bathroom entrance and when anyone opened the door this sickly sweet smell would permeate our atmosphere. When it was my turn to use the facility, the washroom looked like it belonged in the 3rd world, dirty with holes in the walls, very primitive. The food was good but portions tiny and way overpriced. It was my wife's birthday and as woman tend to do these days she photos some her meals. The woman that runs the place comes over and insists in a loud voice that there are to be no photos. First time I've never left a tip.

Great to have a small independent restaurant locally. This place has been around for more than ten years. That's a remarkable feat for a small restaurant. We had the Pretzel and Mushrooms for starters. The pretzel was tasty, a little small for $8, the mushrooms were deep fried and took me back to 1980s cuisine. Still, they were juicy. I ordered a prosecco cocktail, and it was too sugary for me and barely drinkable. The glass of wine my husband ordered was good (Mark West Pinot Noir) and well price. We had three different schnitzels each costing a little over $25. They apparently came served with fries or salad. I ordered the Parisian Schnitzel. It was a generously sized schnitzel stuffed with a modest amount of brie and tasteless slices of fresh pear. Served with a tablespoon of tasty slaw and generic frozen fries served in an attractive bowl. My son and husband's schnitzel had similarly modest stuffings and were uninteresting. The service was efficient, with only two staff waiting on the whole restaurant. I wanted a glass of wine after my cocktail was done, but I wasn't able to get the waitress attention. Similarly, I wanted salt, but I had to resort to the 'diner solution' of taking salt off an empty table. The food was served as fast a MacDonalds. It made me think that there is a business opportunity to open a fast food schnitzel haus. Unfortunatly when the bill arrived there was a charge of $9 that we thought erroneous. We had all ordered from the section "Served with salad or fries." My son had ordered and said "and salad" as we each made our orders. Apparently, his schnitzel, though coming in the section under the "served with" did not come 'with' so his side salad was $9. I felt that we should not have to pay. The woman serving us (she was also management, I was told) was very displeased, and an argument ensued. Until we left, she didn't stop dropping one line provocations my way "You can't read a menu," "Lady, I did not invite you here". Perhaps it is a sign that they don't have experience dealing with 'complaints.' That would be a good indication. Overall a disappointing evening for us. If you love meat, you might enjoy the ambience with a glass of wine or beer and a generous...

We moved to the neighbourhood and have been to this restaurant a 3-4 times over the last few months. Our last visit was a bit disappointing. After being seated we waited 15 minutes before anyone even came to ask us about drinks or bring water. The two servers who were working were often confused about what the other one had done for our table and often came over trying to take our order again. We poured our own wine for the meal and had to ask to have our water refilled. The food was tasty, however we found it very expensive for the size of the portions. For example for a main dish of Spatzle it was $ 22.00. We felt for a dish with such simple ingredients it was very over priced. Also the schnitzel we ordered was 27.00 and that did not include a side. I am not a large eater and felt the portions could have been larger. Although the food was good and the beer selection is great we were disappointed in our overall experience. We will not be...
