We had the $598 set dinner for only 8 of us. Usually, this kind of set dinner serves 10.
The taste was decent considering it was a busy night. The service lacked a bit but again it was busy so we were understanding. However, the portion was small and ingredients used were extremely chintzy. E.g. when the stir fried scallops and beef tenderloin arrived at the table, at least 3 of us cried out at the same time why the dish was so small. The so called "Tenderloin" was in cubes like the size of a dice and I suspected its authenticity judging by the texture. The menu noted 2 lobsters with premium sauce. When the lobsters came, we were shocked to see that they were just canner lobsters.
Other dishes like the soup, fried rice and noodles: I could hardly find the ingredients / proteins, even mushrooms as stated on the menu description.
At the end, they ran out of the "fancy dessert" which was also included in our menu. So, they provided 2 sliced "ORANGES" instead. No effort was even made to find a comparable substitute. The staff was laughing about it, but I didn't find it funny at all.
You might think we should have ended up with mountains of leftovers since we only had 8 people, specifically 5 ladies and 3 men. We had only one small box of takeaway.
I won't go back to this restaurant again. Their questionable business practice and ethics are not something that I...
Read moreAfter hearing about this unique Chinese restaurant in the NW and reading some reviews we decided to give it a try. I want to start by saying the food we ordered was great, but the service was horrible, whether it was by a miscommunication or some other reason this was truly disappointing to be ignored, we were sat by the guy at the front counter, it took over fifteen minutes to get our drink order in… tables that came in after us and sat down received service well before we did, we finally had to stand up and wave a server down just to get our order taken. I would like to state the restaurant at this time was at best 40 to 50% full, there were still many open tables and seeing the service the adjacent tables were getting was not really a good experiencee. As for the food, it wasn't bad the crispy chicken was quite nice, the wonton soup was a bit above average, the sweet and sour pork wasn’t too bad fairly standard, one dish that was a bit disappointing was the shrimp and vermicelli hot pot, it was quite heavy on the noodles and had way to much liquid in the dish to make it on par with what we have had in other restaurants . I'm really hesitant about trying this place again given our experience, I would like to given the quite ...
Read moreWe went into this place a couple of weeks ago on our quest for a good Hot and Sour soup since the Spicy Hut close. They had Hot & Sour soup sizzling rice. I always ask for my food without MSG because I have a weird reaction that I don't know about to the next day. It typically causes me to have trouble sleep because my sinuses get so blocked. When I asked if they could the the food with no MSG I was assured they could. We ordered the sizzling Hot and Sour and it was quite good. It had the richness of flavour we were looking for and at least a little heat. We also ordered a palace style chicken, it was different than other Palace styles I have had before, but it was still good with rich flavours. However, I suffered a terrible MSG hangover (how I experience it). So the food was a 4 for quality but the service is downgraded because I cannot trust it. I have to say, if you don't have any MSG problems I would give this place a try. I however probably have...
