Update: Changing from 5 to 3 as the last few visits have not been up to par. They have redesigned a lot of the cakes to just have a chocolate lining. This takes away from the delicacy the previous designed cakes had. They also took away the lady fingers from the tiramisu cake. Bummer as now I have to look for a new place for cakes in town. ————
The easiest 5/5 I have given. Still my favourite place in town for cakes! Yann Haute always delivers. I have had it many times and every time it is good. It is always consistent and high quality! It is the best patisserie in all of Calgary in my opinion.
The mille feuille and red berry glee are my top pick. The proportion and flavouring of the red berry glee is just perfect. It balances the tartness of cherry, strawberry & raspberry with a sweet cake base perfectly. I do not like tart desserts usually but this has become my recommended cake to order at Yann! The mille feuille you can just tell they use quality vanilla bean cream. It does not taste over filling nor heavy. The carmelized puff pastry in between is done just right too.
Tiramisu is also great but it is more common cake. The lady finger texture stood out to me for this one and sets this one apart from others. The Paris-Calgary is also another good cake but I find the texture a bit too crunchy for me - only personal preference. The exotic delight is my least favourite simply because the mango is too sour and does not taste like mango at all. This cake tastes more like a lemon coconut cake.
I find their pricing very reasonable too for their quality cakes. Please don't change your pricing as I want to keep recommending Yann to everyone!
Their cakes also come in beautiful premium packaging. It is always a delight to unwrap a Yann cake! Keep up the great work :) Can't wait to try...
Read moreWhat can I say? Thank you so much Yann Haute Patisserie for making a family birthday so special. We had ordered the royal cake, the lemon and tiramisu petit gateaux, and the gingerbread viennoiseries. Everything was packaged so beautifully and tasted amazing! You can really tell how much time and effort goes into making these pastries and cakes look and taste so good. Each bite was filled with fresh flavour, hands down the best desserts I have ever had. The royal cake was delicious, not too sweet, and the almond cake underneath was delightfully crisp. The gingerbread viennoiseries were absolutely amazing, the chocolate ganache inside was perfectly spiced, and combined with the crisp croissant to make a delectable treat (please make this a permanent addition to your menu! I'll take your whole stock :D). The lemon and the tiramisu petit gateaux were both excellent, the lemon was perfectly sweet and bursting with fresh lemon flavour, and the tiramisu was so creamy with the perfect amount of coffee flavour. Do yourself a favour and please go visit them, you will not be disappointed! Thank you YHP, you have a...
Read moreI ordered a berry cake, a box of macrons and almond croissants for my birthday. Was really excited because i heard such good things about this place and wanted to try something new this year. But was quite dissatisfied with the taste. The cake was good, tart berry compote and a sweet almond base, but the MACRONS??? I don’t know what went wrong with those either it was a bad batch or someone had forgotten to throw away yesterdays batch cause it tasted stale and old 😣. My sister had picked them up around 2 pm on the day, so they were in the fridge for like 4 hours as recommended by the website, before I ate them. Macrons are supposed to be hard but why were some of them soft ??I’ve had macrons from Sobeys and winners to other gourmet French bakeries like sucre and olive, and these were by far THE WORST I’ve ever had. My whole family took one bite and grimaced at the taste. I’m glad I at least tried it, but I’ll just be sticking to the shops I know that are good from now on, and might try an almond croissant on occasion. Maybe this place is...
