Great food and drinks. Extremely horrible experience with the service. I have been here a few times before which made me want to bring my friends to celebrate my birthday here. We came on a Wednesday night during happy hour. I had called ahead to make a reservation as my party was 7 people and wanted to make sure they could accommodate us. The restaurant as a whole was not crazy busy and we had ordered drinks until the rest of the party showed up. Our server was extremely inpatient with us. From the get go she advised us that the bar tender was busy and we told her it’s not a problem. Throughout the night she was very short with us and rushing us to place an order. One of my guests had gone up to the bar with a side plate to grab limes as we asked our server multiple times, waited and received nothing. We let it slide because we wanted to enjoy the night. We asked for tequila shots for everyone to celebrate the birthday and our server was abrupt and rude when asking what kind of tequila we wanted. One of my guests is a district manager for 5 other pubs in Calgary and was fed up with the service we received; so she got the attention of the manager and complained about our service, only to have another customer interrupted our dinner to make rude comments about us. That only shows how unprofessional and disrespectful our server was to go talk to another table about my party. I am extremely disappointed with my experience here as we just wanted to have some good tacos and drinks. Had the server come to our table and apologize by letting us know she was busy it would have been completely understandable. But to have another guest at the restaurant come up to my table on my birthday and be rude and disrespectful is unacceptable and completely inappropriate. Food and drinks were great but the service received ruined the...
Read moreCame here over the weekend(Sunday) with my wife and a friend. Place wasn’t busy so there was ample seating. The host let us know we could sit anywhere.
The waiter was friendly and had no problem letting us take our time to find out what we wanted to order. We started off with beers and the guacamole and chips. I was expecting it to come ready, but to my surprise it was made right in front of us so you definitely knew it was fresh and it tasted fantastic. We then ordered tacos. Me and my wife wanted to split tacos but weren’t sure which to try and the server recommended his favourite the pork, and also said the fish were the most popular so we took his suggestion and got 3 of each and he was not wrong! They tasted fantastic. The table also has a verity of hot sauces to put on them as well. My favourites the hot almost white mayo type and the bottle with green sauce, neither were extremely spicy so it was good because I only like moderate spice.
Overall a really great place that has great atmosphere, good service(staff and speed). The only downside I would say would be the price. I get nowadays everything is expensive and it is in a prime location so you expect to pay more. We payed about $80 for the guac, two beers, and six tacos plus tip which I thought was about pricey for a lunch, but at the end of the day was not a deal breaker. Maybe not a place I would come super regularly to, but once or twice a year would be good.
I’d come back to try a few other things on the menu that interest as I did enjoy the food and everything it...
Read moreWent on a weekend evening and the place was quite busy. The place takes reservations, but the host was able to find a table for us. In the warmer months there is indoor and outdoor seating. We were seated inside and the place is quite loud, likely due to a combination of poor acoustics, loud music, and a large volume of people in one space. Would not necessarily recommend as a place to have long conversations.
Ordered the guacamole, mushroom flautas, and three tacos (beef barbacoa, chicken tinga, and braised mushrooms on a flour tortilla). The guacamole took some time to be brought to the table and the avocados are mashed in front of you. The guacamole is refreshing and the chips that come with it are fresh and crunchy. The mushroom flautas were filled with cheese and mushrooms, which made for a very filling and savoury appetizer. Each of the tacos were well-presented. The chicken tinga was quite tangy in comparison to the other two.
The server who helped us was very attentive despite the busy evening as well. She did warn us that the flautas would be spicy (but they were not). The price was quite reasonable for the amount of food ordered.
Would recommend for a visit to have some good food, but would either relocate for conversation or ask for a table outside to cut down on the...
