I had high expectations for this place considering the good reviews and connection between the owner and another sushi restaurant that I like, but we ended up rather disappointed in our experience. We would rate them no more than 2.5 stars.

We came here for a bit of a late lunch and was a little disappointed that they were out of a few items we wanted. After placing our order, we were told it would take about 30 minutes. This caught us by surprise since there wasn't anyone visibly waiting for their food, and the few people at nearby tables were eating food from other food stalls. Perhaps the only chef working there was fulfilling delivery orders, but it would have been nice to be told prior to ordering.

When our food was finally ready, we found that the portion sizes were noticeably smaller than any other sushi place we've ever been to. All of the sushi were one-bite pieces, our two tiny cups of tea were only 3/4 full, and the soup was just half a bowl. The unagi in both the donburi and sushi were burnt and only partly edible. The snow crab sushi was a bit on the salty side and also partly burnt. The salmon sashimi, however, was super fresh and easily one of the best I've had in Calgary.

For a $100 lunch, this definitely wasn't what we were hoping for. My boyfriend had to grab food from elsewhere as he was still hungry. Unfortunately, our first and last visit here, as there are better...

Zushi 10-course Omakase. I am genuinely, extremely satisfied with this Omakase experience. Everything tasted amazing. We had a salad with a gingery sesame dressing, miso soup, steamed egg (perfectly smooth, not over cooked), the sashimi we had is hamachi, tuna, and Salmon. Then came the tamaki, the shrimp was sweet and creamy, then we had the hamachi roll (I love the hamachi), after we had the seared salmon belly, I generally don't like seared sushi since most I've had taste half cooked, but their sear was perfect, it wasn't too much, just a bit to bring out the salmon belly (delicious!), Next is.... The snow crab hand roll! Mmmm, no words, then we ended the tamaki with a Wagyu beef, never had beef nigiri before and this was a good way to start, tho I doubt other restaurants can make it like Zushi. The dessert we had is a hojicha cheesecake, light, not too sweet, just up my alley. To sum it up, it was phenomenal, I would definitely come again or maybe visit the other restaurant their chef works at, Ryoku😋

We also got some onigiri after dinner 😅 They were amazing as well! If I worked close to here, I would come of...

If you’re looking for an unforgettable omakase experience hidden in the heart of the city, this is the spot. The cheerful chef isn’t just skilled—he brings such warmth and joy to the whole dining experience that it instantly feels special.

The sushi is beautifully arranged, progressing from light and clean flavors to rich and creamy textures. Every piece is thoughtfully planned, showing the chef’s genuine passion and care. You can really taste the heart behind each dish.

Surprisingly, one of the biggest highlights for me was the steamed egg. Silky smooth, full of umami, and absolutely comforting. I casually mentioned how much I loved it, and the chef happily shared his secret to getting that perfect texture—just another sign of how generous and passionate he is about his craft.

And the price? Unbelievably reasonable for the quality and experience—ranging from $50 to $80? depending on the selection I think. In the middle of the city’s chaos, this place is truly a hidden gem.

Highly, highly...
