Ordered takeout from Amici in Cambridge and was really disappointed. I got two pasta dishes — fettuccine Nancy and fettuccine Leslie from the menu) — and added chicken to both for an extra $8.25 each. The food quality was very average, but the prices were surprisingly high — comparable to some of the best Italian restaurants in downtown Toronto. What really surprised me, though, are the glowing reviews this place has. Maybe it was an off night… or maybe locals just don’t get out much and aren’t using a proper barometer for what a good Italian restaurant actually is. I’m not trying to be rude — but if you’ve eaten at Terroni, Gusto 101, Sotto Sotto, Carisma, Trattoria Nervosa, or Buca in Toronto, or even Riccis in Woodbridge, the difference is night and day. At those places, you get quality, portion size, flavour, and an overall experience that justifies the price. At Amici, unfortunately, you don’t. Two full pasta meals with added chicken shouldn’t leave you hungry 20 minutes later — especially at these prices. Grand Total a whopping 70 dollars! No sides.. no extras.. nothing! Bottom line: unless you’re okay overpaying for underwhelming food, I’d recommend skipping Amici.

We joined some friends at their favourite local Italian restaurant and it was good. Glass bottles of cold water are on the tables for you to serve yourself (which I like). The pasta dishes came with a thin slice of toasted garlic bread in lieu of a bread basket. The Rosetta was delicious and I highly recommend this dish. Exactly how Nonna would have made it, in my opinion. The pasta in the Rosetta was buttery and light, the sauce perfect. The spaghetti and meat sauce was good. Portions were moderate. The thin crust Godfather pizza, with meatballs, pepperoni and sausage, made in their wood oven pizza imported from Italy, was also good. Our companions were hoping for extra Parmesan to be offered, although chili flakes were eventually provided when requested. There’s a popular bar area with high tops at one section, and regular tables fill the rest of the room, complete with the straw bottom wine bottle with the candle burning on top- adding to the authenticity of this place. Recommend reservations for weekends and I understand they can accommodate larger parties with notice. Free parking, located in a strip mall, easily accessible.

We decided to support a local business and order from this restaurant- this was a big mistake. I can't speak for the in-restaurant experience, because we got delivery. The food was poorly seasoned, undercooked and overpriced. IE the pasta tasted of nothing but wine, the pizza was about as thick as a nacho, and the garlic bread was stale. I felt as though we were being punished for placing this order. If this is what they serve regularly, I don't know how they stay in business. Eastside Mario's absolutely destroys this place. PS- the saddest looking lasagna that I have ever seen.

Let me begin by mentionning this review is not in any way a reflection of the food served. We unfortunately did not get that far.

We arrived after making reservation at around 7:15. Upon arrival we were very nicely and politely seated at our table without any delay. The server promptly came over to start us off with drinks and we asked for water (which comes with a lemon wedge (awesome)). The fun starts when we were but a few feet away from a table of 8.

Before I continue let me explain that I believe that restaurants need a certain amount of self respect.

The table of 8 was permitting their child to yell, stand and jump (yes jump) on top of their chair, hang of the back of it. When the parents noticed this behavior they infact encouraged it an said how cute the child is (probably 7 or so years old).

We told the server we would like to wait 10 minutes before ordering.

While waiting and going over the menu the whole table proceeded to speak about how much vomit they produced at their last party and mimiking heaving noises. They were abnoxiously loud and thid did not cease. After 30 minutes of waiting and not a single staff person telling them the topic, behavior and level of their voice was inapropriate we decided to leave.

I expect a family run business to have pride in their restaurant. To value and cherish all customers and not be afraid to express their concerns when a table such as this ruins the evening for the remaining guests. There are many forms of bad service. Allowing some clients to disrupt the rest of the resraurant without a single warning (it was seriously worse then a chucky cheese) is one form of this service.

I encourage you to check out the food as I hear it is amazing but...

Went there for our first anniversary and it would be our last time there. I rarely leave bad reviews, but this one deserve it in every ways.

As soon as we got in, we've felt more than unwelcome. An old waitress just saw us come in, didn't say anything and turned her back on us. My boyfriend had to go to her and ask if we could seat ourselves. Place had maybe 4 tables there, it was dead.

Receiving the food, my Caprese pizza was alright. Dough seemed pre made, but other than that, it was ok.

My boyfriend took the Calzone, and that's when it all went even more wrong.

Calzone was totally flat, burned on the bottom and uncooked on the top, soggy Dough. He picked chorizo and meat balls as toppings in it and we were astonished to see it was only tiny bits of ground beef. (False advertising.) Sauce that came with it tasted like canned sauce.

Waitress never came to check and ask if the food was ok.

After finishing my pizza, and my boyfriend having a sword fight with the Calzone, we waited a good 15 mins to get our bill. After receiving the bill and paying, we ended up tearing the receipt ourselves as it was another 10 mins waiting there in a dead restaurant, with no service.

While leaving, no acknowledgement of it either.

As an Italian and someone who worked in restaurantion for 10+ years, it's the first time I felt unwelcome by a WHITE boomer...in an Italian restaurant.

Pushing her into retirement or sending her working in the kitchen away from clients would be best for...

I have been wanting to try this place for awhile since we moved into the area. I hate to give a local place a poor review but we went tonight and unfortunately it was a very disappointing experience.

We arrived to a fairly empty restaurant however our server seemed quite flustered and disinterested in serving us. My partner has a food allergy to dairy and the server offered her little to no assistance in navigating the menu to find something suitable.

My partner decided to order the Ragu Gnocchi and she very clearly asked our server not to add cheese which our server acknowledged would be accommodated for, however despite this we were still served it with Parmesan. After I quickly flagged them down they did replace it however this time without utensils which we had to go up and ask for ourselves. Also they served it with garlic bread with butter which it seems pretty obvious she could not eat. Overall a very poor service experience.

Food was 'okay' overall, Calamari was underwhelming but my pizza was good. Decor is also dated and dirty in spots but the biggest issue was the poor service; this place will need to improve if they want to keep the doors open for much longer. We won't be back.

Also look out for prices on the final bill being higher than what is listed...
