My elderly uncle who recently had a stroke is a regular at LA Franks (He’s known by name by the owner/manager – who I have honestly known to be a lovely and friendly lady). As I am his primary caretaker, I took him out to lunch today and we were refused service for not wearing a mask (outside). Obviously, and unfortunately, we won’t be supporting a business that is driving divide between citizens for their personal choices. The funny thing is, it’s customers like us who have been fighting and protesting against locking down small businesses and restaurants for the last 16 months. Now we are the customers punished by those same businesses. Funny how that works.
My primary concern here, is that the divide is being driven by “science” that doesn’t exist. There is no published literature that concludes that cloth masks or face coverings do anything other than provide a visual signal that you’re pretending to care. Further, it is important to realize how aerosolized viral particles actually behave. Outside of the fact that being outside means LA Franks literally doesn’t have to worry about aerosolized viral transmission at all (because the particles obviously can’t concentrate)– the particles are so small that they will fly through anything less than an N95 respirator mask, and in a completely enclosed space spread a much further than the mandatory and arbitrary 6 feet.
In short- if LA Franks was really concerned with viral transmission within an enclosed space (which they aren’t because apparently their cooks don’t even wear masks) they would require one person per upwards of 100 foot radius of the order window, and everyone would be required to wear at minimum an N95 respirator mask. That’s IF science was actually being followed. Actually, if they were truly focused on the health and safety of their customers, they probably wouldn’t even serve the type of menu that they do.
I know this will mostly fall on deaf ears, and stubborn minds that don’t want to actually question the arbitrary and simply false information misleading citizens, and business owners. I am someone who actually does care about my health. I actually live it through a healthy lifestyle. Personally, I wouldn’t put one menu item from LA Franks in my body, and let’s be real, if anyone was actually truly concerned about C 19, they wouldn’t either – we all know onion rings and malted milkshakes aren’t doing your body any favours, particularly when it comes to fighting any potential viral pathogens.
BUT my uncle really likes LA Franks. He has for many years, and it is very unfortunate to see a business force you to do anything other than show up and enjoy their product. You’re not saving the world, you’re not stopping the spread, you’re not even really concerned with health. You’ve allowed yourself to become part of a mechanism of misconstrued, convoluted, and arbitrary directives that have absolutely no measurable result aside from creating a two-tiered society, and driving away good people who fought hard, and put boots on the ground, for your right to run your business throughout...
Read moreWe were there over lunch (12:05pm on a Tuesday) and were second in line. The tables were already almost all taken by the early birds who came just as it opened at 11:30pm. By the time we placed our order there was probably 20 + people behind us waiting to place their order. And the line continues for a long time!
The line can get pretty long, specially on a sunny warm day, but typically you can expect your food within 5 minutes of ordering it.
There were two of us today- we had the regular Hotdog, small Poutine, medium South West Fries, and their Deep Fried Pickles. We also each had a can of pop. It came to a little less than $35.
The food was tasty. The gravy in the Poutine is pretty good but the cheese is not authentic Poutine cheese… but it did the trick! The sauce in the South West Fries started to congeal not too long after we got them, but overall, not a bad mix.
Likely not the place for you if you fear birds or bees… there are plenty of both in very close proximity at all times and they are not shy in trying to share your meal.
We’ve been going to L.A. Franks for years. Usually once a summer is sufficient for me. But going here marks the beginning of the nice weather and reminds us that summer is...
Read moreDisgusting human behaviour! L.A.Franks refuses to sell food to you if you are buying it for the homeless! After eating lunch here ourselves, my husband tried to buy a couple homeless ppl a meal. So he went for a short walk down the street and came back with 3 homeless gentlemen so they could pick what they wanted for lunch at L.A.Franks, only for them to tell my husband and the 3 homeless ppl we don’t serve people like that, and refused (to their faces) to let my husband buy them each a meal! My husband explained that he was paying for them, they don’t have to eat it there if that’s their problem. That they had to be kidding! He was just buying a hungry person some food and how could they even want to deny that? They refused and used the excuse that it will attract other people like that to their establishment. Ridiculous, unkind and absolute 0 compassion for your fellow man! Let me add it is an outdoor, walk-up only establishment, there’s no going inside their establishment. There was also 0 other customers there at the time, it would have harmed nobody to let us buy them a meal that they could go somewhere else to eat. I’m glad not everyone treats the homeless like L.A. Franks! Shame on you...
