Based on the advice of Alltrails, a wonderful little hiking app, decided to try a more urban style walk along the river in downtown Galt. Had a nice time. Weather was beautiful for October. There were some picturesque locations by the river; in fact so picturesque that there were three different weddings all getting photos taken. There are a few great little independent coffee shops and cafes around, if you need emergency caffeine refreshment. Some limestone ruins, some interesting existing buildings.
Free parking along the road, with a two hour limit, which is plenty of time to amble along the paths. Easy, easy hike of course - all paved...
Read moreDefinitely it’s a natural beauty But it’s not really a clean place like it could look better, I was able to find spiderwebs all over and it was just really dusty and dirty didn’t even look like they maintaining at all. I know it’s outdoor and it supposed to be a little dirty but still like if somebody is having a wedding there then they should at least clean it before the wedding day or get it cleaned. I’m not sure if the venue is for free or do you have to pay for the millrace park but even if they charge a certain fees and I have it cleaned before the wedding I think it’ll look better...
Read moreThis is an excellent spot. While many people like to hang out up top, I think the best part of this park is down by the river's edge. This is part of a large wall that helps protect downtown Galt against flooding, so on lower flow days, you can take some stairs down and walk along the concrete bank.
