Initially looked up their hours to ensure the dining room was open, especially during this phase 2 of relaunch. It said open until 11 pm so headed there for our date night. Arrived at 9 and a worker in the dining room said they were closed but we could go to the lounge. Menu is more limited, but we went. There was only 1 other party present. We were given the limited bar menu. Ordered our drinks and also beef dip and the roast beef dinner. Dinner came quite quickly, to their credit, the food was very nice and hot. We were asked if we wanted anything else and then the server left. Not sure where she went as we couldn't find her at all. The beef dip stated it came with horseradish and au jus. There was no horseradish. We tried to locate the server, even going to the restaurant side, but she disappeared apparently! My food was stone cold by the time she showed up. We asked for the horseradish and were told no one usually orders it so they don't stock it. In other words there was none in their kitchen. After a moment she suggested they could run over to the nearby safeway and get some for us. We said alright and away they went! About 20-25 minutes later we got the horseradish which is supposedly included in the meal. You can imagine how the meal tasted at that point. They did not offer to provide a hot roast beef dip to replace the cold one. We waited (again) for the server to notice we were done. She didn't notice so we approached the till to pay. By that time, our server had left for home it seemed and finally another worker emerged from the back. She presented us with the bill, no discount offered! She was the one who had gone to purchase the horseradish so we knew she was aware of the issue. I asked her what do they usually do when this sort of thing occurs and she said,oh, I can give you some discount. She took 7.50 off the bill which was half of my beef dip price. We paid and left. Will not be back here ever again. You would think that during this relaunch time, restaurants are needing the business more than ever. Apparently this one is not interested in more business or customer...
Read moreHorrible service!!! We were seated right away, and our order was taken right away. But that's where the service ended. Our drinks came only 3/4 full, and we weren't given straws. We sat for nearly half an hour before our waitress returned to see how everything was. That was when she realized that she hadn't served us any food yet. She said she would get our food right away. 15 minutes later we finally had food in front of us, however my sandwich was all alone on the plate with NO FRIES!!! And you could tell that our food had been sitting under the heat lamps for probably half an hour because the plates were scalding hot, my Monty cristo was soggy on the bottom, and dried out to the point of the bread cracking on top. My wife ventured to another table to find us cutlery and ketchup. She was only able to find one set, we asked the waitress for another set and some napkins. She returned with a stack of napkins 3 inches tall. I eventually got my fries. We were never offered any drink refills, or asked how our food was after we finally got it. And to top it all off we ended up missing the movie we planned on seeing because everything took so long. I should also mention that they weren't even too busy. And there was another waitress that didn't really seem to be doing anything useful. Needless to say. It was a horrible experience and we definitely won't ever be returning. I know you probably shouldn't expect much from a north side smittys. But...
Read moreShowed up at 7pm on a Saturday for supper. The restaurant was fairly quiet with one large group in the far back and then only a few other tables seated. We waited approximately 5 minutes before we were noticed and seated. Our orders were given in good time and my daughter's food was brought after a reasonable wait, but I did not get my food for another 15 minutes. I noted there was only 1 server managing the large party (who seemed to consume much of his time even though they already had their food by the time we arrived) and the other tables as well. When my food arrived, my daughter was done and I casually commented that normally we'd eat together. I asked if there was anyone else with him? A manager perhaps to offer some support since he was so busy on his own. He said the manager was bartending in the lounge and it was just the 2 of them (beside the cook). Wow!?!? I can understand working to not overstaff - there is a balance, but to set yourself up to only have 1 person per area of patronage is terrible management. That said, the young man that was our server was fabulous despite running a little ragged. As I had clear view of the door, I noted a few other potential guests come in, stand in the entrance awhile and then leave. Having even a second wait staff on the schedule would have paid for itself as those customers would not...
