Elegant Court Restaurant — Restaurant in Edmonton

We gave Elegant Court Restaurant a try after seeing numerous posts about it online. We didn't find that it lived up to the hype though. They were quite helpful when placing our takeout order over the phone, however, upon arrival for pickup, it wasn't ready. That's when they also informed me that they ran out of chicken for the lemon chicken, which was a disappointment. They substituted it with chicken balls, but it's nowhere near the same thing in my opinion, even though they tried to convince me otherwise. I continued to wait another 10-15 minutes for my order, which gave me some time to check things out in the restaurant. There was only one couple that were dining in, all others were takeout orders. There didn't seem to be any menus for the couple aside from the takeout menus that were provided to them, which seemed odd. The lights were very dim inside as well. Upon leaving, I slipped on some ice on the sidewalk directly outside of the restaurant, takeout bag in hand and on the ground along with myself. The takeout survived better than I did, as I was bruised and bloodied on my knee and elbow and limping as well. The food wasn't all that tasty in my family's opinion, nor worth the trip and...

Placed an online order at 4:30 pm. Called the restaurant to confirm that it went through because their online ordering platform doesn't send you a confirmation email. The lady I spoke with confirmed that they received the order and it will be a 2- 2.5 hour wait for delivery (which we expected with it being NYE). 8:30 pm rolls around and the order still had not arrived. I had called the restaurant numerous times and it was either a busy signal or endless ringing. I just wanted to inquire about picking up instead or cancelling if they were that busy. Disappointing that they couldn't just let their customers know if they were able to fulfil their order. And I was hesitant to order from somewhere else because the girl I spoke to confirmed my order and relayed a delivery estimate. I also recommended this place to my friends this evening and they were not contacted at all after ordering and waiting a few hours. I can appreciate that they were extremely busy but reaching out to customers would've been considerate. Ended up ordering Jin's Chinese Cuisine through Skip The Dishes and it arrived 40 minutes later piping hot (amazing food!). Won't be coming...

I hate doing reviews but this time i want to share my experiences maybe management will take this seriously. First the staff are friendly especially the older lady who always makes you welcome. We ordered a few times once in a while. Food was ok except i find the ginger beef and honey garlic chicken is a little dry and tough. Today we ordered dinner for 3. It arrived on time. One of the dish is chicken chow mein. I was so hungry so i had a bite then have to spit it out. The chicken taste gross and has bad smell. On the other hand my sister had a bite already and it was ok. So my mother -in law try it and she has to spit. Looks like some spoiled chicken are mixed. I hope not.

Also this time the orange chicken and honey garlic chicken are very tough and dry. Its like you are chewing a rubber. Atleast the rice is good and the dry ribs is ok its chewy too but not as bad as the two. I think next time i will order...
