A&W Canada — Restaurant in Castle Downs

A &W has been around for a long time and some could say it's a staple restaurant. They have a great breakfast menu and I would say probably the best out there for the price point and for that I love to bring my family for breakfast as a treat. As for the rest of the menu they do have good choices and the food is on par with the price and they do use quality ingredients. I have been eating at a&w's since I was a kid and I always have fond memories of this brand because of this. However they do need a bit of a refresh or something as I find I do not enjoy as much as I used to. I mean don't get me wrong for what you're paying that's pretty good but some of these locations are in need of some work. The staff do what they can within the guidelines they're given and I can't complain about the service I've been given especially with the wages they are getting but corporate could do more as I am starting to notice the crowd is getting older and they need to start targeting more of the younger crowd in my opinion. But as I said their breakfast for the price point I don't think can be beat for what they offer. The morning staff at this location are always excellent so I was utterly shocked with the encounter I had with the night staff tonight. I went through drive through to buy a teen burger and root beer which I had a coupon for. The coupon came from an MS event, and was not expired by any means. When I attempted to use this coupon for my meal the staff told me I could not use it because he had "never seen it before." I told him where I got it and told him that I was informed that I would be able to use this coupon at any location. The individual I was dealing with then said to me, in a sarcastic tone, "I don't know about that," and proceeded to slam the drive through window in my face. He then turned around and walked the other way. I was very shocked by the treatment I received, especially because like I previously mentioned, the morning staff are absolutely phenomenal. I have never had an issue using coupons at any other A and W, so I am really questioning why I had this problem tonight, followed up by the rude customer...

I go to A&W often, but the crew at this location knocked it out of the park... There were so many things wrong with my order. I asked for extra onions on my burger and without asking the specifics, the lady taking my order noted down red onions. I had to ask her to change that. When it came to drinks I asked her what they had without caffeine. The response was "Sir, we have diet root beer, diet coke..." I had to adjust my question to their general selection, since this was obviously not going anywhere... I went to pick up my order and got my drink and was asked to park on the side. The Sprite I had ordered tasted like pure water. When she brought the food, I asked them to correct it. They were obviously out of syrup and had to switch, no big deal. Yam fries were without the seasoning salt I had asked for. My burger came with red onions, even after asking them to change that. The buddy burger meat was so old and dry that I had them redo it. Even if it means driving ten more minutes, I'm not going back to...
