I visited this location of Wayback burgers with high hopes in mind after hearing of the great reviews from colleagues and friends. As soon as I entered the restaurant, the bright colours and cozy booths stood out to me pleasantly. Almost all the tables were full, and I also liked the look of the milkshake bar, it was cool to watch the waiter make our milkshakes. I was greeted warmly with a smile and a “how are you” by a woman with long dark hair at the counter. She sat our group of four immediately, and asked us if we wanted a table or booth. After deciding with a booth, she promptly brought us some menus, pointing out the highlights and taking our drink orders. From someone who heard so much about their world- class milkshakes, I decided with a mocha milkshake, and I am happy to say it did not disappoint. My milkshake was made quickly and it was not overly sweet, but smooth and refreshing. My friends, who ordered a few other milkshakes, agreed and enjoyed their milkshakes thoroughly. Another waiter came for us to place our orders shortly after, and I went with the chicken tenders and a basket of tater tots. My three friends all ordered cheeseburgers with their respective fixings. Our food arrived surprisingly fast for a restaurant quite packed, and everything was scrumptious. The chicken tenders were juicy, tender, well seasoned and perfectly crisp. The tater tots had a wonderfully crisp exterior and a soft pillowy centre. I ordered gravy with my tater tots, and the gravy was delectable as well. Our waiter was a wonderful young man who refilled our waters and drinks constantly, and checking to make sure we were happy with everything. If you have not checked out the Wayback Burgers on Jasper Ave, I highly recommend going here for your next meal out. I usually don’t leave reviews, but Wayback Burgers was too good to not recommend to the other foodies in Edmonton looking for a tasty...
Read moreWhilst away at a conference we decided to take a walk to see what would be a good place to grab a bite to eat, Wayback burgers and their signage called out to us, so we decided to pop in and see what was there to be offered and we were not disappointed. First off, the host/manager was extremely inviting and made us feel appreciated as customers so based on the service alone, I had to give 5 stars. Then the food was really good as well, we went for the special of the day and it was very filling and really tasty and if you're a fan of smash burgers like I am you'll know I'm not kidding when I say the flavor was there, I personally wanted to try their milk shake and it was really good the flavor I opted for had a coffee taste to it, (forgive me if I don't remember the name specifically) but it hit the spot and I don't really know many who don't like a rich milkshake to go with their burger and fries. While eating the manager continued to be attentive not only to our table of 3 but to all those who were present at the time. Good customer service is sometimes hard to come by, but they made sure to have that and back it up with great food. I would recommend if you're downtown Edmonton to stop by here for a...
Read moreOn November 28th, we decided to swing by Wayback Burgers to try it out as we were craving burgers and it was the new place on the block. We walked in with no reservation and had no problem being seated - cursory glance seemed to show proper accommodations were being made for COVID, which is appreciated.
We ordered a Cheesy, Double Bacon, and a side of Bacon Cheese fries. All three were quite very good burgers, and while the buns themselves left a desire for something a bit more, they definitely weren't bad and would be the only thing I'd really look for next time to see if there was "improvement" - that being said, I wouldn't be disappointed if the bun stayed the same as the burger overall was very good.
Our server was a young gentleman, friendly and courteous - service was quick and the food was brought to us in a short time.
Overall we enjoyed our visit, we definitely will be looking towards taking advantage of pickup during these trying times (re: no seating inside the restaurant). Forward-looking, we look forward to going back inside the restaurant to enjoy its unique interior.
A definite recommendation to stop by if you are downtown and looking for a quick, delicious, and not overly...
