Food: 4 Stars Service: 4 Stars Ambience: 4 Stars Value: 4 Stars Sanitary: 3 Stars Overall: 3.8 Stars Walking into the Elora Bread Trading Co., you are immediately greeted by the heavenly aroma of freshly baked bread. It’s a sensory experience that sets the tone for the visit, drawing you in with its warm and inviting atmosphere. Located in the heart of Elora, this bakery seems to be a cornerstone of the local community, and for good reason. One of the standout features of the Elora Bread Trading Co. is the friendliness of the staff. From the moment we stepped through the door, we were met with smiles and a genuine willingness to help. During our visit, we opted to try the brownie and the canelés. The brownie, while rich and decadent, had a peculiar aftertaste that I couldn’t quite place. It wasn’t unpleasant, but it did leave me slightly puzzled. In contrast, the canelés were delightful. They struck a perfect balance—not overly sweet, with a texture that was just right. The caramelized exterior gave way to a soft, custardy interior, making them a treat worth trying. What truly sets the Elora Bread Trading Co. apart, however, is their bread. It’s amusing to learn that much of the town’s bread supply originates from this bakery. Their sourdough, in particular, is exceptional. With its tangy flavour and perfectly chewy crust, it’s clear why it’s a local favourite. The quality and care that go into their bread-making process are evident with every bite. Price-wise, the bakery offers fair value for its products. While artisanal bakeries can sometimes veer into the expensive side, the Elora Bread Trading Co. manages to keep their prices reasonable and accessible. It’s refreshing to find a place that prioritizes both quality and affordability. The only small downside to our experience was the brownie’s unexpected aftertaste, but this was a minor issue in the grand scheme of things. The overall experience was overwhelmingly positive, from the welcoming atmosphere to the high-quality baked goods. It’s easy to see why this bakery is a staple in the community. In conclusion, the Elora Bread Trading Co. is a must-visit for anyone in the area. Whether you’re looking for a quick treat or a loaf of exceptional bread, this bakery delivers. With its friendly staff, inviting ambience, and delicious offerings, it’s a place that leaves a lasting impression. While there’s always room for improvement, particularly with the brownie recipe, the positives far outweigh the negatives. xx kellychan360

I highly recommend this bakery. Although they are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, they reopen on Wednesday. It was well worth the wait to stop in before heading home. I tried the roasted pepper and bacon pastry, the Bumberry brioche bun, the rosemary focaccia, and the seeded sourdough, each one was absolutely outstanding! The gentleman behind the counter was incredibly kind and helpful, which made the experience even better. My 2 toddlers devoured the pastries as well! This is a spot I would 100% recommend visiting while in Elora! :)

Wonderful little bakery in a quaint, wonderful little town. We stopped in for a couple of quick snacks and some bread for dinner, then came back the next day to pick up more bread for a picnic. I chose the sourdough, which also happened to be their gluten-free-friendly option. There are some desserts too—not much, but enough to tempt you. I’m not sure how many other gluten or celiac-friendly choices they carry, but it’s worth asking when you visit. And it is suggested that you visit—this bakery is cute.

I rarely leave bad reviews. I’ve bought bread from this place a few times. The bread is OK. Sometimes really good, sometimes left on the shelf for too long so a bit dry and stale. But the main reason for the low star review is that it’s so aggravating that this business opens SO LATE in the day (10am!!!) and very few days per week. Feels like a hobby shop rather than an actual business. Bakeries all around the world are supposed to open super early (6am, 6.3am) and the funny thing is that the person baking tne bread is actually working at the store as early as 6 am or earlier, and bread is actually ready, but the store is not open for business then.

I would like to encourage this business owner to actually open for service at a reasonable time, so locals can swing by and buy fresh bread for their breakfast.

Another absolutely aggravating fact is that this store remained closed for almost 9 months after experiencing a fire and having to wait 9 months to repair or replace some of...

I don’t reviews often because who has the time. But I’m coming out of retirement for this place right here. Went in on a Thursday and bought the rosemary and potato bread. Let me tell you, what ever they are doing here they are doing it right. This ain’t no Wonder bread sugar loaded bs. As an avid baker myself this bakery right here is the real fricken deal. I’m not a local but you should definitely go grab a loaf of what ever they are offering up that day. Double thumbs up to the staff. Biggest regret is I only bought one....
