We were in town for the Elora Christmas Market, and had dinner reservations here. When we arrived, we were seated quickly at a table downstairs, near the bar.
Since this is a brew pub, I started by ordering a flight of 4 varieties to taste, and my wife ordered an iced tea (beer is not her thing).
We were disappointed to discover that their menu is not the same as the one they have posted online, as we had previously chosen our mains from the online menu, only to discover those dishes were no longer offered.
After a bit of deliberation, we settled on the Yellowfin Tuna Takasus and sweet potato fries as our appetizers. The soup that the diner beside us was eating looked delicious, and after a brief inquiry as to how spicy it was, my wife decided to order it, while I ended up ordering the venison chili.
The sweet potato fries arrived and soup arrived first. The sweet potato fries were unauspicious (no honey-mustard dip). The soup was only about half the size that our neighbouring diner had received, and it was cold. I went to the bar, located our server, and related this info to him. He apologized, saying that he had inadvertently punched in a side-soup instead of a main, and offered to either bring the correct size, or take it off the bill (no comment on why it was cold). When it came to the mains, the tuna Takasus consisted of a generous amount of small cubes of raw yellowfin marinated in some sort of sauce, and served on what resembled half of a hard taco. There were 3 such portions on the plate, which was a bit light considering that it was supposed to be a main. As for the chili, it is hard to taste venison when it is mixed in with a bunch of chili spices, but nonetheless, it was a good-tasting chlli.
We passed on dessert because they were already packing away the tables to make room for people to stand when the live band came on, and we didn’t want to be in the way of that activity. Another server came along and asked if we would like to pay for our meal and drinks now, or open a tab at the bar with a credit card. Since I had just ordered a glass of my favourite beer from the flight, and we didn’t plan on having any more to drink, we elected to pay the bill and watch the band, once they came on
I moved around the table and we both sat on the bench seat behind the table (where my wife was previously seated), and listened to the band while I sipped my beer from the flight.
On the way out, we stopped at ther front desk, where they had cans of each of their varieties of beer for sale, and took home an assortment of the ones I liked best.
One appetizer (the soup was removed from our bill), 2 mains, a flight of beer, an iced tea and a glass of beer, came to a total of...

Update - June 2020 When the manager at Elora Brewing read my review she got a hold of me and asked for more details about our visit. She looked into all of our complaints and was very open and honest about the situations. She also offered to send me a gift certificate for our next visit, but I declined. She then sent us some beer and swag and an apology regarding our experience. I understand that sometimes things go wrong, but the fact that she reached out and tried to make things better, turned a mediocre experience into a very positive one. I look forward to visiting Elora Brewing Company again n the future.
January 2020 - Mediocre, at best. Four of us went to the Elora Brewing Company for my birthday dinner. My girlfriend made reservations weeks in advance and when we arrived they didn’t seem to know about our reservations, but a table was available, in an area that seemed to be mainly for larger groups. I would have hoped for a nicer table since we reserved far in advance (where we could actually see the brewery, would have been nice).
We started by ordering flights of beer, which took about 15 – 20 minutes to be delivered, and the waitress didn’t explain the order of the beers, so we had to figure that one out on our own (luckily my buddy ordered one dark beer, so we used that as a reference). The menu has good variety, and I went with the Bacon Mac and Cheese. The rest of the table ordered a burger, meatloaf, and a sausage plate with poutine. The place seemed moderately busy, but not swamped, and given that, our food still took about an hour to be delivered. During that time, we nursed our drinks, as the waitress never came by to check on us.
When the food finally arrived, my Bacon Mac and Cheese had no flavour, except for the one tiny piece of bacon, I eventually found. I could have done better at home with a box of Kraft Dinner, and some bread crumbs. My girlfriend said her burger tasted sour, as did my friend who ordered the meatloaf. The waitress was nowhere to be found, so we went ahead and ate, as at this point we just wanted to leave.
On a positive note, they do make some good beers, and I wish we had an opportunity to try more of them.
I would not return to, or recommend, the Elora...
Read moreI have to say first, that at least the staff here were very nice. The place looks great, and we had high hopes. We were dining with two young children and we were seated at the front of the place, by the open garage door style, front window. The sun was low and hot, bit of an uncomfortable seating with kids, but no big deal. We ordered mac n cheese for the kids (which came with fries), I ordered a cheeseburger (very basic), and my wife ordered the Cobb salad. The kids food came 1st. The fries were cold, and it looked as if someone had just taken them off of someone else's plate, that didn't eat them. They were served with a homemade ketchup that tasted like marinara. The mac n cheese wasn't made fresh, but reheated in a microwave. It was piping hot in the centre, but not around the sides. We mentioned the fries to staff, and they brought some fresher ones. Whatever, no worries. Our food arrives. My burger bun looks like someone stuck two fingers it, right on the top. It also tasted very odd. I'm not quite sure how to place it. Never had a burger anything like that one before. It wasn't very good (though my 7 yr old daughter did eat 80% of it, instead of eating the mac n cheese). My wife's cobb salad was almost half the size you would expect. It was appetizer sized, not diner sized. At $13 you expect a good sized salad. The taste, she said was "alright". My wife and I have both worked in the restaurant business. I was a cook for many years, and she has been a server/bartender her whole adult life. We consider ourselves pretty easy to please, and very understanding of an off beat dining experience. This experience though, was worthy of taking the time to share a review. There is a problem in that kitchen, that if they fixed it this would be a perfect little spot. In closing, the beer was fantastic. I hope they sort out that...
