New Happy Gardens, located at 66 Wellington Rd 7 in Elora, is convenient to get to with plenty of parking. The restaurant is clean and tidy. The dĂ©cor isnât particularly modern, but it feels comfortable and relaxed.
The food portions are generous, and the flavors lean toward homestyle cooking â not too greasy or salty. Their chow mein and Kung Pao chicken are especially good, with fresh ingredients and a balanced taste. The sweet and sour spare ribs are also worth trying, crispy on the outside and tender inside. The soup options are limited but light and go well with the main dishes.
Service is friendly, and while the dishes donât come out extremely fast, you can tell theyâre freshly made. Prices are reasonable for the area, offering good value.
Overall, New Happy Gardens is a solid choice for casual dining. The food may not be over-the-top impressive, but itâs consistent, tasty, and authentic. If youâre in Elora and craving Chinese food, this is a nice...

On the other hand, The egg rolls were full of dry brown sprouts. The chicken was overcooked. And everything was pretty much tasteless. The chicken Soo guy came with a weird oily tasteless something instead of gravy. I'm pretty sure the lo mein is spaghetti + it was barely any color which means no flavor.
I guess I should have read the reviews more carefully. But I actually said out loud before ordering that I've never met Chinese food that wasn't good in its own way. My mistake.

Read moreI canât recommend this place at all. Not only were we overcharged but the food we ordered was of such poor quality, we couldnât eat one dish beyond a small taste. Szechuan veggies dish was overly spiced with harsh chillies, no actual Szechuan âsauceâ and loads of turmeric! So spicy, canât eat. The spring rolls were overcooked and extremely oily and again, in turmeric! All food yellow. The Singapore noodles were ok yet turmeric galore. Leaked all over out of takeout containers on our clothes and fingers. Not sure how this is...
