I don’t get the great reviews on here. We had dinner and there was a high but many lows. Welcome was nice. Taken to a table behind a wall in the corner of the restaurant so the phones came out to look at the menu Ordered an Albariño. It wasn’t available but another one was, $20 more expensive of course That wasn’t really surprising as the wine list was a mess. There was a Riesling section but then Riesling in the interesting varieties section. There was a Chardonnay/Chablis section (surely redundant as all Chablis are Chardonnay) and then a Poulliy Fuisse in the random varieties section, again Chardonnay. And don’t even get me started on the random pricing

Anyway. More expensive wine ordered onto the food. 5 dishes on the menu are market price. So you either ask your server to list all the the prices and risk sounding cheap or you risk not being able to pay the bill. Surely a little note on the menu each day would solve this issue?

We had the jerk spiced crab legs and they were one of the highlights of our whole trip. Next we had the chicken and a rib eye. Our server suggested adding mushrooms as if they were free but they’re not at $8. Instead we opted for one side of dressed greens. When the food arrived he had brought two sides saying ‘well the sides are free’, something he neglected to mention and isn’t clear on the menu either

Both meats were salted to an inch of their lives. The steak could just about take it but the chicken skin we had to discard to make the chicken edible. Each bite of food merited a glug of water. One of the chunks of chicken was half cooked and bloody. I didn’t mention it to the waiter but hoped that he, or the kitchen, would notice a huge chunk of bloody chicken left behind on the plate…they didn’t

And finally. The service. Obsequious doesn’t begin to describe it. I guess this style might work for Americans but one of the skills as a waiter is to realise when your approach is falling flat and to mix it up. Being referred to as ‘my friend’ really wasn’t going to make me your friend

We took our friends from BC here for dinner on Thanksgiving night (Monday Oct 9, 2017) - absolutely top notch food and service!

I would recommend this place to anyone willing to listen, and I have eaten in many, many fine dinning establishments right across this fine country over the years. Claddagh House is one of the best!

Our food was fresh, hot, delicious, and presented with an attention to detail that was very, very pleasing to the eyes. People eat with their eyes before eating with their mouths, and all our plates were truly eye appealing.

The Lobster Risotto was delicate, flavorful, and just the right texture. The Claddagh Surf n Turf was an innovation on the old classic that was presented well on the plate and went down even better. It will be my next meal. The local Halibut was seared on the outside and moist and tender on the inside. A truly memorable meal.

Cathy - our server, and a fixture at the Claddagh is so friendly and outgoing, yet with the wherewithal to know just when to either leave the table alone or to join in and contribute to the conversation. She is very friendly, helpful, and made us feel as though we were part of her "family" and eating in her dinning room. The food, and the atmosphere were great but Cathy's attentiveness was outstanding.

Cathy's recommendation of the Fig Pudding (chef''s own recipe) for dessert was spot on and topped off my meal to perfection. Even my wife (who doesn't like figs) had a taste and said that she wished she had ordered it for herself.... although her Triple Chocolate Cheesecake was a masterpiece in and of itself.

I am glad that the Claddagh House is in Charlottetown (where we recently moved to) because we will certainly be...

I always suppose that I'm not in the place to judge. But please forgive me, I just can't help but want to get something out of my chest. To be honest, As far as the service provided by certain waitress in the Claddagh Oyster House was concerned, I have to say, it's name doesn't match the reality completely. Apart from the cramped and narrow ambiance and the mediocre dishes, the service offered to us was totally weird and terrible! One waitress was sort of cynical, ironic, conceited, patronizing and arrogant extremely, which is exactly out of the accord of the times and atmosphere of our beautiful and friendly Charlottetown. Not mention that waitress was absolutely in a complete fog about Western Table Manners---for example, the waitress just served the mains when the appetizers of ours were still on the table, and the appetizers weren't taken away from the table even long after the mains were serving on the table. It's really the worst, also the only bad experience till now in my life, in my memories, so my family and I were just shocked to silence and were taken aback totally. All that we can do then was finishing the meal ASAP, paying the bill and seeing ourselves out as quickly as we can. The last thing I'd like to do is having any further contact with this restaurant in future. Especially, I must say that I really felt so sorry to my family because it's me to make a great recommendation of this restaurant to them.I promised it won't happen again. God save me! God forgive me for the judge. Let's all of us not to judge again, let all of us to have a humble heart, let all of us to be far away from...

Last night, we had the pleasure of dining at Claddagh Oyster House in Charlottetown, and it was truly one of the best dinner experiences we’ve had. Our server, Andrew, provided outstanding service throughout the night. He was so knowledgeable and friendly— his wine recommendations perfectly complemented our meal, and his thoughtful gesture of bringing extra biscuits when he noticed how much we enjoyed them added a personal touch that made us feel truly valued. We began our meal with the mussels, steamed in white wine and garlic— so good! For our main courses, we chose the Maple Mustard Salmon and the Claddagh Surf & Turf which was pork belly and scallops with an apple-raisin chutney. The pork belly, in particular, was a standout—it was one of the best bites we’ve ever had. Our early reservation at 5:30 PM allowed us to enjoy a quiet atmosphere before the dinner rush. The restaurant’s cozy setting, combined with its commitment to showcasing fresh, local ingredients, made for a beautiful dinner. We’re already planning our return trip to Charlottetown this summer, with Claddagh Oyster House at the top of our list to celebrate our 5 year anniversary. If you’re seeking a dining experience that combines exceptional service, beautiful food, and a welcoming atmosphere, Claddagh is a must-visit while in Charlottetown.

It’s the best restaurant we’ve ever been to during the shoulder season (End of April 2025) in Charlottetown, PEI and even throughout our East Coast trip (Fredericton, Saint John, Moncton, Shediac in NB or Halifax in Nova Scotia). Highest recommendation goes to their “seafood chowder.” It has everything in it, including the “melts in your mouth” salmon belly. We’ve ordered this in all the restaurants we’ve been to for this East Coast trip and honestly, nothing comes close to this chowder, not to mention they were the cheapest for $18! We even tried Claddagh’s sister company in Halifax but they’re so different from each other I wish I can go back to Claddagh very soon! Oysters are also good but the best ones are the Rustico ones if you like it briny. 🤤 Burger was their feature for PEI Burger Love which was also great and meaty! Highly recommend to get a reservation as theyre extremely busy and full. We were lucky that they had space at the bar and they were able to accommodate us even though wedidnt have a reservation when we went.
