Solid restaurant. Location/ambiance - 5/5 Service - 5/5 Food - 4/5 Being right on Victoria Row in Charlottetown, you couldn't ask for a much better location. John Brown's has a nice patio with beautiful open air indoor seating when the weather is nice but the sun is a bit hot. We were greeted and seated quickly and our server was sweet. We had menus and drinks within minutes which is usually a big indicator of the speed of your visit. My only gripe (and it's a small one) was that we found our meals a little... plain. The chips in my nachos weren't seasoned and neither was the beef from what we could tell, so although it had great presentation it tasted like something I'd make at home. The fish and chips were nicely battered but the modified take on tartar sauce will be a hit/miss with some. Again, nothing to prevent us from trying another couple of dishes on another day - I don't want to imply that things were bad. These days we're spoiled with food offerings in even the smallest of places, so we'll look forward to trying some new dishes next time! Bonus: during the day they had a kids menu for our young fella. Our server was great with him and he quite enjoyed his chicken fingers.

I absolutely loved the Big Andy Burger. It was superb and made my tummy very happy. Just the right amount of spice and savory from that jalapeno aioli. My friend go the fish and chips which were also very nice, flakey, and cooked perfectly - the tartar sauce was good and flavorful. The beer selection was very good! I was able to sample a few to see what I liked best and choose from those. The Gahan blueberry wheat beer was especially yummy. The beer could have been colder though, as I found it was a bit warmer when it was served but still appropriately cool; this was more of a personal preference. Service was great too! Fairly normal wait time for a busy place, and the staff were very quick to help you out with a request. I'd certainly recommend this place to friends. One last thing - the live music was a nice touch and they were great performances.

Randomly selected this store when walking around downtown Charlottetown during the summer. We asked to be seated outdoors as the weather was nice. Tables outdoors seated only 4 people and we had 6. We asked the hostess if we can join the tables together but she wasn't sure if she could. She had to ask her manager. The manager said yes. It was extreme hot outside, the patio has no roof rather they have umbrellas. Our tables umbrellas weren't open so we asked if we could open it for some shade. Again, the hostess said she doesn't know, she had to ask the manager...the manager had to come and opened the umbrella for us. She doesn't know anything..

As for our waiter, she was okay up until the point where I asked her what kind of oysters they had because the menu didn't state the type. Her response was just the regular type of oysters. Oysters have names and places where they come from...she's doesn't even know what kind of items they are serving at the restaurant she's working at... great

It was so irritating eating at this restaurant. The service was horrible, the staff didn't seem like they knew what they were doing. Whatever questions you asked them, they don't know how to answer.

Overall, food was okay. Not that good. Price was alright but I wouldn't...

Seeing we are only in Charlottetown for one night, we wanted to pick a seafood restaurant that was highly rated. Upon entering, the staff were nice and accommodating. The service was efficient and with a smile. However, when the food was served, it left little to be desired as for taste or presentation. The scallops (at $36) were hard and chewy. Very disappointing. The chowder was over salted. 2 strikes. The mussels in wine and garlic sauce was lacking flavour. With all this to experience, we had to pass on the desert for fear of the unknown. We decided to have tea and coffee. The tea was not hot enough and therefore the tea bag could not steep properly. The coffee was cold enough to guzzle down. Very disappointed for first and only night in Charlottetown. We wish we had the opportunity to try other restaurants instead of being left with a poor experience as we depart the island. The service staff alone warranted the 3 star rating. If it wasn't for them, it...
