Went for dinner for our friends birthday. Our friend tried to make a reservation for 25 two times yesterday and two times today only to be told, don't worry just walk in. After the group of us arrived we were told that they needed to clear tables and that we would be in shortly. 30 minutes had passed and they still made no attempt to clean tables and seat us. All 3 employees were standing behind the bar chatting. The restaurant was pretty much empty (there were 2 small tables of 2 people in the entire restaurant) but seeing As I've been a server for many years I know that sometimes things get busy or backed up and sometimes they need a little help so I asked for a cloth and went up and tried to help clear and clean the table so our group could sit. Instead of one of the servers coming and helping, she told the supervisor/manager what I was doing and he came up, scolded me for trying to help, told me it would get done and to just wait and escorted me away from the tables. I went outside to wait with my friends. 15 minutes later, they finally escorted the group to the tables. After everyone went in I stood outside to finish my smoke and noticed one of the guys in our group was leaving and the server that had got me in trouble for trying to help was also leaving.. I proceeded to ask my friend why he was leaving and he said him and the manager don't get along so he wanted to leave as to not cause any issues for our friends birthday. Within seconds of him saying this, the server turned around and went to the manager and proceeded to point at me and tell him we were threatening to harm him, even tho that wasn't the case. As I went to our table I told my husband that I was uncomfortable and wanted to leave and explained the situation. As I'm explaining, my husband looks towards the front to witness the server smiling and waving at us. We grabbed our things and left without another word. As we got into the parking lot, the same server decided to tell us what awful people we were, called us a bunch of names and profanities, jumped in her car and drove off. Now normally I would just let this stuff go but I was absolutely disgusted with the lack of professionalism by the staff. The fact that the manager allowed this to happen and allowed his staff to treat paying customers like this is absolutely appalling. I hope the owners of this establishment take what I'm saying very seriously. Hire better staff and when you do, train them properly. There was absolutely no reason for them to treat anyone this way let alone paying customers who did absolutely nothing to deserve it and when a group of 25+ call for a reservation, don't make them wait 45 minutes for u to "prepare" especially when there's 2 tables of 2 in the entire restaurant. Make sure its set up properly. Thats why people make reservations in the first place.. Do better. Treat people better. The behavior from the manager and staff was UNACCEPTABLE!!! I hope you learn from this situation and get your acts together quick. If this kind of behavior and lack of professionalism continues, I assure you your restaurant will close...
Read morefood is consistent but sometimes this is a positive and sometimes it can be a negative.. let's use the terms wins and fails here.
As a long haul trucker, I come to stops where the only restaurant choices are less desirable breakfast joints, or a Boston pizza. it is an easy choice to go with BP in this case.
I'll start with the wins.
Pizza. The quality is good but not amazing. The consistent nature of their pizza is a positive. Always the same no matter which location I go to, and the flavour choices are quite good.
Beer, another win simply on the nice glassware that is always chilled ultra cold. keeping the beer refreshing until I finish it.
Service, usually it is pretty good. I don't remember any issues at any locations. my server yesterday was on top of her game. good work!
now the fails that need improvement
pastas. I've had several of their pastas and usually I am left with a full stomach and a confused mind. why did I just spend $18 on a pasta with obvious out-of-a-package sauce? the shrimp on the jambalaya are miniscule and the sausage is of low quality. can they not source out a quality andoullie sausage for this?? The Alfredo pasta is watery rather than rich and creamy, something tells me this packages sauce needs to be reconstituted with one to one ratio of water and someone is stretching their food cost in the customers expense.
Garlic Toast.. yes I'm reviewing the garlic toast. big time fail. this is a small French loaf that has been in very brief contact with garlic butter.. so brief they should just call this Grilled Toast. If you are a garlic toast with pasta kind of person.. don't bother asking for an extra piece.. you will be sorely disappointed.
Prices, this is probably the most consistent complaint for Boston pizza amongst most reviews.. yes, it's true.. we are paying far too much for this underwhelming fare. yesterday I ordered ribs with 2 beers, my wife had jambalaya with 2 beers.. our bill after tipping 15% was $80..
my ribs though cooked properly were just leaving being warm, cold by the time I had eaten half. the veggies were obviously blanched in hot water and then placed on the plate. they lacked any seasoning, and it appears they put vegetables on a plate as garnish.. no one will eat those watery couliflour or carrots.. yuck.
the gravy served with my mashed potatoes was odd.. is cutting corners with quality the main source of profitablility with this chain?
if I had more options on the road, I wouldn't go to Boston pizza.. I think it's the frosty beers that keep me walking through the door.
oh. one more thing.. and this may not be important to most Canadians. when the NFL is on TV, Boston pizza and it's employees seem to be reluctant to put the games on, in favor of any sort of hockey they can muster up.. hey Czechoslovakia is playing Zimbabwe!!! heck, NFL playoffs take a backseat.. is this a sports bar theme or a hockey theme?
that's my two cents. what...
Read moreStill currently finishing my experience here but had to write about it as things were very disappointing.
First off, after our kids drink order was dropped off my boyfriend and I asked for a drink menu to which the response was “I think I can find something in the back for you” which gave me the impression that this was an inconvenience or hassle for him. Our server came back and dropped off the menu and then my girlfriend and I waited for about 10 mins before I got up went by the bar/kitchen area and waited there while a few of the employees finished a conversation before noticing me standing there and asked if I needed help. I let them know I simply wanted to order food for my family but hadn’t seen our server around.
A different server came and took our order but didn’t apologize for the wait not seemed interested in us being their or our orders at all. We ordered everything and after taking our order finally got our drinks from our original server. We ordered a rum and Pepsi and a sleeve of Belgian moon. we had one sip and wanted to send the beer back as although the glass was chilled the beer itself was room temperature at best. Still no one has come by and it’s been about another 15-20mins (no quality check on the drinks nor anyone by to drop off presets).
Pretty dismal to say the least. Normally don’t complain but I am hoping the fact that I had time to write this detailed review while still sitting in the restaurant waiting for my families food gets the message across as to how disappointing our experience has been.
We are a huge advocate for BP and are involved in the kids meal gift card promotion every time it happens. But this was by far the worst experience we’ve had.
I gave 2 stars because I’m hopeful this is a one off as well as because I heard a staff member in the back calling out the team for hanging out in the back stating that “if customers hear or see us they’ll think were all on a break”
During our wait it was also pretty concerning seeing one of the servers going outside hanging out with an arriving employee, coming inside without seeming to wash/sanitize their hands and go straight into looking after their tables
Hopefully this feedback helps as we like supporting local businesses/restaurants but will definitely be going elsewhere next time we’re in the area.
Also just received our food and asked for the bill right away as well as the kids desserts packed up and still no one cared to ask if everything was ok nor apologize for the wait etc.
I changed it to one star, as I was directed to fill out the feedback directly with Boston pizza. It said I would be contacted within 48 hours. It’s now been 4 days and I have yet to hear anything back from the company and that right there is how’s me that they do t care about...
