C-Lovers Fish & Chips — Restaurant in Chilliwack

Went on a Friday at lunch. What a shame for the owners it wasn't busier, because everything about my experience was excellent, and they should benefit from doing things right.

Let's start with the food. I really like Cod and Chips... so I ordered a 2 piece cod and chips. Portions were good, cod was excellent, chips were perfect, coleslaw very tasty, and the tartar sauce was above average. Overall the meal was very satisfying and even if the service had sucked (which it didn't), I would go back just for the food.

As for service... the two young women on duty were EXCELLENT. There were regulars in there who they seemed to know by name. I was by myself going through town and I was treated like I was one of them too. Service was quick, efficient and friendly, and not over the top. Because I was by myself I got to watch the interactions with the other customers to some extent, and they really have people who care about the customers. Kudos to whoever hired/trained them.

As for atmosphere... I will qualify my atmosphere (google review beta) review of a 4... While very clean and fresh, the atmosphere was not cosy or quaint, but it is very acceptable for a lunch spot/chain place. If you could only take this food and service and package it in a nicer / quainter setting, this would be a home run.

Extremely disappointed with our dinner tonight, was good before, so we were making it a regular stop. However, upon ordering our dinner we ordered one piece Halibut meal for each of us. We also ordered an appetizer. We got our appetizer quickly, but not even half way through, our dinner arrived. We clearly did not get the halibut we ordered but were told it was halibut. The waitress lied to our face and said it was. It truly was not! It was cod! We watched another couple come in and they wanted to sit by a window but were told they couldn’t because they were not using that section, but later proceeded to allow another gentleman in that same area. It was not busy at all in the restaurant. They also wanted oysters and were told they did not have any, but offered onion rings! We did not finish our meals and requested takeout boxes but they didn’t have any so our leftovers we’re just wrapped in paper. Really dissatisfied with the...

The moment we walked in a couple weeks ago it was noticed that the kitchen staff was beyond busy with a fully loaded restaurant.

As we waited patiently for a chance to get our table mixed in line with takeout orders, the "head" cook/ manager started shouting out to his highschool staff to go to the store and get butter for the deep fryer as apparently they ran out of lard??

We were going to leave then but decided to give it a go still to try the new location, to find out the fries were undercooked and later that evening my 8 year old son was dealing with what seemed like extreme food poisoning or something to do with the cooking oil perhaps?

With the last struggling location for the Chilliwack C-lovers and now this new one makes me Leary on returning, lately we have been making the trip to the Abbotsford C-lovers location to enjoy some great kitchen staff making the best cooked fries and delicious fish for any...
