Dec 23- I ordered take out for me to pick up. I ordered 2 grilled Beef salad roll orders and a satay soup. The weather was cold with Slippery roads. So it took alot for me to get there. I paid and left with my take out. I got home and I only had one order of salad rolls and one order of soup. I called and told them my order Was wrong. The girl didnt understand me and told me no such order existed. So I explained myself again. I told her I already picked up and my order was wrong. She told me she was sorry and I wasn't over charged bc I only paid for one of each. I told her I didnt want one of each. Anyways. I was not impressed. We ate the food. There are only 3 salad rolls in an order. Which makes this rather expensive. The worst part was the peanut sauce wasn't peanut sauce. It was pure hoisin. Can you say barf? It was sick. Then the satay soup was no satay soup ive ever tasted. It was very anemic looking. The beef was grey in color. The broth was clear. It wasn't spicy at all even though the Menu states spicy. Satay soups usually have bold and rich broths. This broth tasted like it was poured out of a store tetrabox. It seemed more like chicken broth. I think this restaurant must be some type of fusion or westernized vietnamese food. Id be honestly surprised if any asian person ate this food. I will...
Read moreUnfortunately the clean and moderately homey atmosphere was not enough to deserve anything beyond 2/5 stars. I've been here twice. The first time, I ordered the 5 color rice dish, the meat on the sugar cane "bone" was cold. Along with the store bought sausages and shrimp. The second time I dined here, I ordered the special pho. The broth came out green, murky and dark. Opposite of what you'd tend to find in other vietnamese places. The tripe and innards smelled bad and the rare beef was hard and chewy.
Both times I've visited, the customer service staff were hard to find. We rang the bell several times and waited. By the 5-6th bell, a man who I assume was one of the chefs was asked if there were no longer bean sprouts served with the pho noodles, to which he answered "we don't do that here." Moments later, our waitress returned and promptly gave us the usual plate of bean sprouts and chili.
If you want to come here, the bubble tea they serve is great. The atmosphere and clean open concept is wonderful. However, I would rather eat elsewhere for good...
Read moreThis was our first time here. We ordered their spicy peanut satay soup, one with seafood, extra vegetables and no noodles, and the other with added seafood. While the broth had a little chicken flavor, it was neither spicy nor had any peanut flavor, nor was there any vegetables at all - except some pieces of lettuce... no, it wasn't su choy or anything. We spoke to the server, and she told us it would be extra charge for vegetables. We didn't have a problem with that. We had to 'doctor' both bowls just to have any spice or flavor. By the end of us making our own soup with their ingredients- it cost us almost 30 bucks a bowl. Salad rolls don't come with peanut sauce either, so that was a bit disappointing as well. The server got our order and disappeared. My husband had to go track her down twice. We came in with our baby, and they also didn't offer a high chair, which I found unusual for a family restaurant. Overall, it was disappointing for a first time there. I left a tip as I understand how it works being a server, but I don't feel it was...
