C-Lovers Fish & Chips — Restaurant in Clareview

Unfortunately I’ve visited this place during Covid times and had to get takeout, when I got home there were two problems first: I paid for gravy and they did not put it in the bag, I Immediately called the restaurant and told them that they charged me 2.29 or a gravy that I did not I receive, The lady told that next time I come in, she would give me a gravy and she took my name and cell num. so I was like “no problem” 2nd prob: I got home and the food was absolutely and disgustingly soggy... (food doesn’t do well wrapped in paper for long drives but I didn’t even complain about the food quality, only the gravy) After the restaurants opening back up, they had the restaurant was re- open for in-house seating, I decided to give them another chance.. I went there today and immediately told the server about the gravy AS I ordered it, but, when I got the bill I was charged for the gravy which should have been free, she goes and talks to another lady and the lady basically called me a liar saying that she had no notes to give anyone anything for free, and I ended up saying “no problem, I will pay for the gravy but you will pay with a bad review” so here it is LADY!! Next time I suggest you take the customers word over $2.29 !!! I mean if you’re that poor for money I guess you need it more than I do! The girl who serve me was actually really nice, but the old witch rude and condescending. She definitely should not be running a customer driven business, at ALL!! Also the fries were not fully cooked, the halibut was a very tiny portion, and meat & fries were both completely UN-SEASONED. I will never return to this place and I think most of the positive reviews are fake cuz both times I was in that place, not even ONE customer came through the doors... if your craving good seafood like fish+chips, stick with “Joes seafood restaurant” it’s 1000x’s better than this garbage, low quality, theiffing place!...

English fish fare galore, a whales haul can be consumed if one so chooses. The all-you-can-eat option will allow you to do precisely that, without being a fisherman... or fisherwomen depending on your nouns. All the fixins of the traditional English variety are found here; Malt Vinegar, Tartar Sauce, and good old Lemon Wedges; all included. The spuds did not tantalize the taste buds, but are a nice neutral addition. The star of the show... the fish did not jump off the plate and wow. That being said it is lightly battered, tasty and easy on the way down. All these factors combined can make anyone feel like a professional eating champion. Prices are competitive and cheaper than most, which is nice to beat back inflation. Washrooms are clean and inviting... making you want to stay longer than you should. Decor does the job and splashed with some local history. Service could use a deep infusion of Joy, Enthusiasm and Attentiveness. Communication lingua franca between staff puts people at ease, and it's just good manners. Faux pas aside, nobody will slap you with a fish, and that's a good thing! You will get your serving of spud and sea, even when you have to mount a flag like an ambassador at times. If you are looking for a decent place to eat that won't break the bank, open your eyes because you already found it... just be sure to save some fish for...

Had the all-you-can-eat in Edmonton today. Restaurant is great. Food is good. This is an excellent deal because it includes a bottomless soft drink. My only complaint is that the soft drink did not taste like name brand. The fountain dispenser behind the counter shows name brand (Pepsi) but I can almost guarantee you that I wasn’t drinking Pepsi. It tasted like no-name or store brand. The fish was very good and I did not find it greasy at all. The fries are also very good. These are not your McDonald’s American style fries. These fries will very much appeal to anyone familiar with Montreal style fries. The fries are very good. If you order the all-you-can-eat, coleslaw is not included but I have no issue with that considering the excellent price. Service was also very good and attentive. There was no problem getting additional fish and service was prompt. Also, the fish is served immediately and not sitting because it always comes extremely hot. I would highly recommend this restaurant and give it less than full marks only because of the less than satisfying taste of the beverage.
