We went here today as a group of five. My vegetarian friend ordered a VEGETARIAN dish which was the impossible burger. I ordered a burger that contained bacon in it. We were first served by this kind east asian lady, she was in charge of our table and when our food came out, she first gave the food to the other 3 people because obviously she can’t hold all three dishes out at once. Another waitress, a south asian one, came out with the vegetarian (impossible) burger and the bacon burger. She asked “impossible burger?” so my vegetarian friend raised her hand up to indicate that it’s for her. The other burger came to me. There was no reason for us to distrust her words as she is an employee there and an employee should know way better than the customers. The burgers each come with a side of fry by the way, it’s a pretty big portion of the meal. We started eating and my vegetarian friend said that she didn’t like the patty so she decided to take it out. Turns out the reason she didn’t like the patty was because it was NOT the vegan alternative patty. I had received her burger and she had gotten mine. We called over the south asian waitress as she was right behind us and explained to her that she had gotten our orders mixed up. She replied with “I’ll go ask them about it,” meaning that she’ll go ask her co-workers for help. She was the one that handed us our orders yet she did NOT take ANY responsibility. Another kind waitress came by and apologized multiple times and offered many alternatives to make it up. We ended up getting free desserts and my vegetarian entire bill was covered. Honestly, I think our entire group’s bill should have been covered. This mix up ruined the entire atmosphere and overall vibe of our dinner. I had also received the wrong burger when I was TOLD that it was the bacon cheese one. My vegetarian friend also received a gift card as that’s the least they can do to somewhat make it up. The south asian waitress, the one who served us our burgers, passed by our table a couple times and made eye contact with my friend but never bothered to apologize. She made a mess and left it for her co workers to clean it up when it was not their fault. I was originally going to give 2/3 stars for the way they handled the situation but because she had no bothered apologizing AND tried to GASLIGHT my friend into thinking there was NO bacon in the BACON burger. Read moreI always go to this Cactus Club location and the food is always amazing but I had an extremely bad experience here with one of the servers. The server was named Kate and right from the start she appeared rude and disinterested. She didn’t even smile once at us. Whenever we asked for something like a refill on our drinks or even the bill, she did not say a word like others servers do.
When it was time to ask for the bill, I asked to pay half in cash and the rest on card. I was planning on tipping her on the machine. She came back with the machine and she selected the TIP option HERSELF. She was DEMANDING for a tip. I was confused because I go to this location all the time so I know that when the servers hand you the machine, there are a bunch of options on the machine where you can select which tip option you want to do. She selected the option herself where you put in how much you want to tip. I was in disbelief because I have NEVER experienced a server clicking the tip option demanding for a tip. I then clicked the “okay” option which set it to 0$ tip. It was never my intention to not tip because I wanted to tip. She then asked if I wanted the receipt and I said no. She then proceeds to print out the receipt anyway and looks over at the receipt to see if I tipped her. When she saw that there was a 0$ tip, she left a nasty comment saying that her service was not bad and that tipping is based on service. I then apologized to her saying it wasn’t my intention to leave a 0$ tip and I was about to offer to tip her but she rolled her eyes at me and left without saying another word. This completely ruined my entire night. I did end up speaking to one of the managers and her co-worker even said that this happens many times to other customers from this Kate server. I feel like she stereotyped me because I was with friends and we were all teenagers so I believe her nasty attitude was based on that because she was extremely nice with the other tables that were adults.
I read the other reviews and have seen this has happened to many people. I am in shock that this Kate girl is even still working here because she makes an uncomfortable environment. Read moreI was there for a birthday dinner with a total of 8 in our party. No complaints about the food or service. My complaint is when the bill came. Total was 310.21 including all taxes. ( 286.00 before taxes) I Had a 150.00 cactus club gift card.. So that brings the total down to 160.21 Then i had a visa gift card that they were having issues with. So she took gift card and terminal into the kitchen to get help from a manager or another coworker.. In the end that took off another 60.00. So total now should be 100.21..... This is where i have the issue. The waitress came back with the terminal and the total said 125.00 Me not thinking anything of this at the time because i was paying for 4 people, 2 of them as a surprise for their birthdays. Trying to hurry because one figured out i was paying and didnt want me too. So i then ask if the tip had been included yet and she said no. So i added 60.00 extra as a tip. So my total on my personal card was 185.21 I get home and i have the bill in my purse because i was hiding it from my other 2 friends. I look it over and realize she actually got 85.00 as a tip. Maybe i should have realized the error when she came back with the terminal. But assumed the machine's can do the math. I specifically told her i wanted to do a tip at the end when all gift cards were done because, Unfortunately i had the same issue at one of the Burnaby locations after using their gift cards. Only i caught that one before i left. Its a 25.00 difference. Its the principle of the matter now and i am not pleased. This may be the last time i eat here because this whole thing put a bad taste in my mouth.
