I Am Pho Coquitlam — Restaurant in Coquitlam

We’ve just move to Burnaby few months ago, first time visiting this lovely restaurant. Our opinion of Greater Van pho so far are ‘it’s hard to find a decent bowl of pho’, and thus we’ve been trying multiple places throughout the months.

Taste 0.5/1* Me and the wife both ordered pho (P7 for me & P15 for her) Pregnant wife found the texture of the brisket to be too chewy, I thought it was acceptable She liked the noodle texture, where as for me I found it too undercooked/hard Overall taste was ok, definitely get that MSG overload feel after, will give 0.5 for the split decision on noodle and meat

Value 0/1* Bubble tea slightly more expensive than other places at $6.85, but pearls included Banh mi noticeably pricier at $11.xx including a pop

Service 1/1* Had to wave a server down to get our order in after no one coming by 15min after sitting, but other than that nothing too bad

Cleanliness 0.5/1* Good Reno and clean out front, but washroom was like a whole other world, dirty, messy and cleaning supplies on floor, makes one wonder what’s going on in the kitchen Chipped Dinning wear also a cause for concern

Overall/Revisit 0/1* As we have already found another spot that we enjoy more and closer to us, likely wouldn’t make the trip out here just for pho

Paying for ambience? YES Above and...

My husband and I went there to have dinner last night (June 11) Tuesday night around 6 pm. The restaurant is getting busy at that time and we understand;however ,only 2 waitress working at the peak hours. The waitress was very nice and friendly and we don’t have any problem with the service . We were not impressed for the length of the time we have to wait for our food I ordered spicy soup and my husband got his rare beef soup We did not order any appetizer So we don’t know why it took 35 mins for us to wait for our bowls of soup which normally it might only take 5-10 mins

The staff whom working in the kitchen have to manage their time how to make time more efficiently and the customer have not to wait for a long time

The food is okay,not anything special The waitress was super nice but if asking me to come back then I won’t cause waiting for a long time for our food The owner has to figure it out how to tell the staff in the kitchen how to mange their time and it’s not fair to complain to the waitress cause it’s not their fault at all

I hope the restaurant can read this review It wasn’t a good experience for us

I came here with my sister to enjoy a pho soup, we didn’t order appetizer or anything, straight pho soup, and we waited 20 mins for our soup to come and they bring us one small plate of bean sprout and 2 lime, so I’m like ok, food came we start to eat, portion inside the large soup I ordered is very small, not enough noodle and meat and they fill the bowl with broth. They don’t come back to see if we need anything, I had to stop a server for anything I needed like some napkins and more bean sprouts. I never complained, my sis and I just ate and when I got up to pay, I tapped the card and the guy says to me…what happened? I’m like, what? He says, why you didn’t tip? Then I’m like stunned how he dare ask me why I didn’t tip, there was no service, where do I begin!? We came to the eat soup, we eat what we are given, no one came back to see us, it’s like how can he even dare asks why I didn’t tip. Tip for what!?

When I walked away you can hear him talking about us to other servers, this place is disgusting with how they expect you to tip!!

Tip is not mandatory and if you want a tip, you have to show good, attentive service!
