Stopped in on a Friday at 4:30pm. First walked in there's three tables; two of them already eating. Two dirty tables and one empty 4 seater and one empty two - top. Was not greeted or acknowledged by staff when I walked in so I sat on the 3-4 chairs lined up next to the divider waiting for service. Was finally greeted and sat at a dirty 4 seater table which the server only decided to clean one half of before leading me to it. Browsed through the menu for 5 minutes, even read the Metro paper before the server came to take my order. Ordered a dynamite roll, 1 masago nigiri, 1 toro nigiri and 1 saba nigiri. Cutlery were dropped off. What's missing? Tea or water. The server cleans up the dirty 4 person table adjacent to me. Ten minutes go by, I go up to the water station in front of the sushi bar and pour myself some water. The server sees it and acknowledges it saying 'oh, oh no water'. Long story short it takes what felt like 20 minutes to get my dynamite roll and 3 measly nigiris. The food was mediocre at best. There was fried yam in my dynamite roll, isn't that interesting. The piece of saba fish was half of average size. Bottom-line, would not return for poor quality of service. Food is pricier - way pricier than spots like sushi California down the street. I thought because it's smaller there'd be a cozier and warmer attentive atmosphere, boy...
Read moreWith new management taking over I wanted to check it out. Wow! When I first went it was fine but it wasn’t amazing. It was ok. Now coming back with new management it’s amazing !! The place is beautiful, the staff are friendly and it’s a cozy atmosphere. Looking at the menu, it’s big! And has lots of variety and I love the pictures. I chose the Yummy roll and the tuna roll. The yummy roll was very appropriate to its name. It was absolutely delicious ! The scallops didn’t taste frozen they actually had a fresh taste to them and so did the spicy tuna. The rice was well seasoned and the spicy mayo was excellent. Tuna roll was also amazing, again the tuna tasted fresh not frozen. Seaweed was nicely wrapped and taste great. We also got Gyozo which were well seasoned and the sauce to dip them in was a nice sour/salty sauce that I loved. My partner got a BC roll which I tried a bit of and wow! That salon tasted excellent, skin was yummy and you could really taste the salmon. Sauce on top was sweet and complimented the roll well. Overall, great experience and I left feeling full, well fed and extremely happy and excited that I’ve...
Read moreWhere to begin.... this small yet very welcoming sushi spot is a hidden gem. The owners are very friendly, courteous and just have a warmth about them. The place is tidy and cozy. I like the layout as well, they did well for the space they have. I particularly loved the handmade, (by the owners), pottery glasses that accompanied our beverage. The sushi itself.... Wow. It’s times like this when I wish you could try a piece of every custom roll. Just sit and eat for hours, it gives you that kinda feeling. Lucky enough for me I live real close by The Poke is delightfully good. Taco so crisp, Salmon Avocado roll..... mouth watering as I write this review. Anyhow if you are in area and care to have a wonderful Sushi experience, go to Sushi Karis. I can’t find the words to convince you enough,...
