Strums Restaurant — Restaurant in Corner Brook

The negative experience started when we entered. Nobody at the door, nothing indicating to seat yourself or wait to be seated. It only went down from there, Waited about 10 minutes for someone to ask if we needed menus? Dark haired waitress came over and I tried to order a beer. First two I selected were not available. Next one was called India Beer. Not being from Newfoundland I asked if it was local and she didn’t know anything about it. Google says it’s the last remaining Newfoundland produced beer on the island. Drinks come and we placed our order. About 10 minutes later she told a blond haired waitress not to sit someone in the area we were in because the whole area is reserved. Dark haired waitress then told us to leave the area and sit somewhere else. How she started to serve us and then found out the whole area is reserved doesn’t make much sense. She seemed to be in charge and telling others what to do. We moved and then one entree came with our starter. The other two entrees arrived about 10 minutes later. The steak tasted like burnt beef jerky according to the person that ordered it. The vegetable was one piece of broccoli with a couple carrot slices, with lumpy mashed potatoes. It was taken away and taken off the bill. The comment from the waitress saying nobody ever complains about our steaks, seems to suggest there is something wrong with the customer. Unprofessional wait staff serving us. There are ways to ask someone to move besides “you gotta move, this whole section is reserved “. I will say that the wings were good and fish was ok. Fries were good. All said it was not a good experience. Even if the food was great, unprofessional staff will chase business...

My friend and I visited your restaurant for the first time. It was our catch up,when i visit home every two year, lunch. We were greeted by your friendly and efficient server. I think her name is Victoria. The atmosphere was warm, comfortable, and the background music was a light jazz. Pleasing to the ear. I started with seafood chowder as an appetizer anf the entree was pan fried cod. My friend had French onion soup and roast beef sandwich .All foods were fresh, and delivered in perfect time. What a great little hidden gem in Corner Brook, Newfoundland! We’ve been here twice during our 12 day vacation in nearby Pasadena. Both times, I’ve gotten a pasta/chicken combination. Both choices absolutely delicious. My husband got his steak fix both times, 2 different surf and turf choices for him as well. Both times had leftovers as portions are very generous. They also have quite a wide variety of items on their menu. We had different servers both times-both were friendly and attentive. We wish we had found this great...
