The skinny: hip place, great service, good atmosphere, clean - food is hit or miss. 6/10 The wide: When you walk in to a restaurant and there is no host you do what we and a couple other people did thru out our visit: stand around and look awkward until someone tells you to sit somewhere. How do servers have sections? What if everyone sits only on one side? Also Hosts help clear tables, so when the gentleman tonight saw his favourite table dirty, he just sat down at the dirty table for some time until a server noticed and quickly cleaned it up. Host also take payments and etc as well, bus food etc etc. but more importantly. Show you where to sit so you’re not standing around. That being said our server was lovely and sociable and on the ball 10/10 service. The place was clean and honestly I would come back and try some more food. The cocktail I tried was.. not good, the salad that came with my food was dry and lazy deconstructed. I didn’t touch it because it just.. didn’t taste fresh, and the Shepards pie seemed.. small for the price. If you added more diced carrots and pees, you’d have bigger volume for not that much more cost. If was hard to find specific notes in the dish saying rosemary is in something and it’s just.. bland ? I should say it was fine. It wasn’t bad. It just could have been better. I think a menu that has all sorts of items from pot stickers to nachos to burgers to stews and etc should scale it back and perfect its dishes, or at least have some razzle dazzle that isn’t dry salad compensated by a tiny cup of dressing. That being said, everyone around us seemed to be enjoying their time and my friend really enjoyed their burger, (the fen). I would give this joint another try, I think I just caught a spot of bad luck. Again the service was so good and the people so nice and the place so spotless for a bar. Can’t wait to...
Read moreWent for a ladies lunch date. What a pleasant surprise. A nicley done casual environment with a lot of charm and character. The service was quick and friendly. The server was experienced and knowledgable. Two of us had the soup of the day special. This was not your avg soup that came from a mix. This was a home made scratch soup. Beef brisket and barley soup. Just like dad used to make. So hearty and full of flavor. Very generous portion as well with a small side salad and a toasted garlic bread. So fresh and delicious. The bar tender made me the most tasty Caesar drink as well. It presented well with added garnish. The other guest had the Rueben sandwich. She raved about it and it looked delish! I was very impressed with the portion sizes and the visual presentation. We were all drooling at the other dishes that were brought out for the other customers. You really cannot beat this place for quality, service and value. Hats off to the server, bar tender and cook. Well done! We...
Read moreI recently had a delightful lunch experience at Fenwick & Baker. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted warmly by the server who provided exceptional service throughout our meal.
The presentation of the dishes was nothing short of impressive. Each plate was beautifully arranged, showcasing the chef's creativity and attention to detail. The burger and salad we ordered were both outstanding, packed with flavor and cooked to perfection. However, I must mention that the Pasta dish fell short of expectations. While it looked appealing, it was overcooked and lacked the desired flavors. I believe it could benefit from some improvement in terms of execution and seasoning. Despite this disappointment, I was pleased with the overall quality of the other dishes. What truly stood out during our visit was the server. She was friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcomed. Her dedication to ensuring a pleasant dining experience contributed greatly to our enjoyment...
