I was always a huge fan of Mezza, especially when I used to work on Barrington Street. It was one of my go to places for lunch.
I was excited to see a location opening close to my neighbourhood. However, I have had a couple bad experiences that have lead me to stop going there. The worst was a shawarma plate I ordered. The rice was so wet and mushy, it was inedible. It was like some simply dumped more water in the rice that had been sitting there all day. It was disgusting and make up half of the plate. The shawarma meat had also dried out, like it had been sitting there all day. The garlic sauce, salad and hummus were the only saving grace. They were as delicious as always. I can't name the exact date this happened. I just know that after that experience I was kind of done. I had gone in too many times where I found the meat was dried out and the quailty just wasn't great for the cost of the food.
What prompted me to write this review was another review I had read. I'm in a Facebook Group Restaurant and Take Out Reviews in Nova Scotia and it has a lot of people talking about how Mezza has gone downhill. And well, if you aren't aware of the issues, you can't improve.
I will give Mezza another chance. As I said, it was once an absolute favourite. But I hope the owners and franchisees take a look at some of the reviews out there to address some of the issues...
Read moreI recently observed a concerning process during my visit to Mezza Lebanese Kitchen Penhorn around 6 PM today. While witnessing the grill cleaning procedure, I noticed the attendant using a cleaning cloth dipped in fryer oil to cleanse the grill. This method raised significant hygiene concerns, particularly as it involved using oil from the fryer where food is prepared. When I questioned the correctness of this approach, the attendants confidently affirmed its validity, which surprised me. However, their response quickly turned dismissive and their tone became markedly rude. It's crucial for consumers to be aware of how their food is prepared, especially in regards to hygiene practices. This review serves as a cautionary reminder, urging others to be vigilant and advocating for appropriate standards in food preparation at Mezza Lebanese Kitchen Penhorn. I hope this feedback prompts further attention from relevant authorities to ensure the safety and quality of food served...
Read moreWe were for the first time there a couple days ago and were totally disappointed. We ordered chicken shawarma and it consisted of cabbage and pickles, there were just two or three pieces of chicken inside. We decided to eat inside but the atmosphere was not really friendly, people who were standing in line just in front of our table, were staring at us like we were doing something wrong. Maybe it’s not normal to eat there, but what are the tables for? In addition, the counter where they cooked the shawarma, was covered with the receipts, which were on the shawarma and under. Unfortunately, we can’t recommend this place and will never...
